Update (11/2007):How To Install A Screen Saver

Test, Configure, and Install an .SCR file, now for all Windows Versions, including Vista

After receiving a few emails concerning installing a screen saver, I figured I would put this post together.
In addition, I must note that some screen savers by others can be an .EXE file; this is an instruction for .SCR files.

After downloading the .ZIP file: Open the .ZIP file (open or extract whatever normally do). Right-click on the .SCR file: (You have three options)
Test: You can test the screen saver before installing it, to see if it is compatible with your system.
I make my screen savers with Axialis Professional Screen Saver Producer 3.6 Personal Edition, which is compatible with most systems.
Configure: It takes you to the screen saver configuration window, where you can mute the music.
Install: Installs your screen saver.Depending on your system, this folder will vary with Windows versions, the screen saver will install into one of the following locations.
• Windows XP/NT/2000/VISTA - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
• Windows 95/98 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

If you are having trouble installing the screen saver you can copy the .SCR file in your system folder. Depending on your system, this folder will vary with Windows versions,
• Windows XP/NT/2000/VISTA - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
• Windows 95/98 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
I hope this is helpful.

I'm tech challenged,  I installed a screen saver called "Transitions SS"

I just love the sand, water undulating, sun setting, palm trees and music.  However....my computer's protection tried to get me to leave it go.

I installed it anyway.  Hope I haven't "killed" my computer....
