So suspending all democratic activities for the duration of the emergency sounds like a fine idea (in game, in real life I'd freak.)
It's not that it's in-game that makes it sound good, it's the fact that you become supreme leader that makes it sound good
Well you're right about that. Being on the other side of the equation certainly changes one's perspective. In GalCiv2 on the rare occasion where I've made a big enough mess of things that the senate refuses to allow me to go to war I wish I could change the government back to Imperial without taking the economic hit.
Cringe "Emperor! We did everything we could ..."Choking sounds
I am sure I wouldnt choke you... yet

And by the way TGE is mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought I would make it clear. If the name is ever taken, I think I would lose a sense of identity I have had for a few other multiplayer games. And that will be sad
If you choked someone every time you lost a flagship you'd run out of officers right quick. Unless you stumbled across an Admiral Thrawn and stopped losing flagships.
I have no designs on your name lol. I'm just pretty sure a lot of pretentious players will try and pass themselves off as Emperor. Probably not as
The Great Emperor.(Re-reading it I in no way mean to insinuate pretentiousness on your part.)
Woooh, super capital ships (semi-heroes, experimental units) will make a great addidtion I think. The core of a battlefleet.
so long as they aren't invincible.
I.e. they really should have difficulty retreating and dealing with smaller units.
Well, the flagship I was thinking of wasn't
that much more massive then a normal dreadnought. Closer to one and a half times more massive.
Maybe players should be limited to a certain number of these units so as to make them more...epic. I'd really only want one, decidedly more powerful than a regular unit. To balance this you would of course have to put the resources into training and upgrading it. And yes, being more massive it would probably have a lower acceleration.
But the power of this ship (symbolic and actual) should set it apart from the run-of-the-mill dreadnought (and enhance the role-playing aspect of the game.)
By the way, is this game going to be star-wars-ish in having units with a max speed? Or are they going to have a max acceleration and (nearly) infinite top velocity instead?
