Camera Manipulation

Hey I've played the beta for about 30 minutes now and I only have 1 complaint at the moment. The camera is a little goofy. Perhaps its simply a matter of getting used to it but it feels very awkward when right clicking and trying to pan left or right to view your ship. Its almost as if it goes the wrong way like it needs a mouse reverse option or something. Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

i thought the same thing. i wonder if there's something we could change in the camerasettings file to fix it?

I've been playing Homeworld since I was a sophomore in high school... I'm just shy of 21 now. Having the camera backwards is like suddenly switching my car so that I have to turn the wheel counterclockwise to turn right. Gonna be soooo happy when they add the inversion option.

I got used to it fast, then I went to play Space Civilizations... owned! I couldn't rotate properly Why cant all the game sjust use same cotrols I mean OMG :/

My mousewheel allows me to pull back from the action, but doesn't allow me to get closer. The only way to get closer to the action is to keep clicking on a ship and have the camera follow it.

Try and see if these work:

Z, X, C will jump to you specified distances.

V and B should act like the mouse wheel.

If you are having trouble keeping your ships in view, try switching to attached camera mode by pressing M or the button just left of center with a little locked camera on it.

Agreed... the ability to invert camera rotation in all directions is needed.

Well, being used to classic enterprise CAD applications using the camera control feels like using some packages I worked with.

The only thing I felt so far is the broken clipping if zooming in moves through an object / spaceship, which makes me see the not designed interior with some flipping panes.

I would suggest that the view approaching an object within a certain critical distance jumps through the object, and leaving the other side in the same distance.
