So I just started playing Sins a couple days ago. The one beef I have is with the marauding pirates. In my first campaign I left the option on and after about 3 hours gametime (with lots of pausing in addition) when I had a ship cap of around 700 I would have HUGE fleets of pirates attack my planets that were so far back in my empire I thought they were safe and, as such, were poorly defended.. These pirates seemed to come out of nowhere (are they coming from the star?) in such huge numbers that I would have needed to send half my fleet back to fight them. If I recall it was about 8 kodiaks and about 20 Cobalts and some siege ships. Personally, this is simply an annoyance I don't want to deal with. Granted, I had a huge bounty on my head, but in terms of realism if a huge group of pirates got together to claim the bounty and I killed all of them, then I shouldn't have to deal with another huge fleet ten minutes later, right?
So anyways, then I started a new campaign and made sure to turn the marauding pirates option off so I wouldn't have to deal with that (and thank jebus there is that option unlike the Total War series), but I just loaded that campaign up again and all of a sudden one of my planets got attacked by a large contingent of pirates! Then another planet!
So is it a bug that I'm getting marauding pirates even though I turned that option off when I started? And is there a way to change that now that I've started?
