Akkan Battlecruiser oddity

I watched the Akkan Battlecruiser in the tutorial. Its Info card says it has Laser, Autocannon, Laser. It had a level 2 Ion Bolt ability.

When it attacked a Gauss Defense Turret, I watched it shoot a volly of autocannon shells, then another volley of autocannon shells, then the Ion Bolt when it could.

Question is, where is the Lasers fire and sound? I hear and see only autocannon turrets. Are the laser facing another direction, since the Akkan Battle cruiser was turned broadside to attack the defense guass platform?

I think the lasers are on its broadsides.

Yes the large guns you see firing when it fires broadside are the lasers. It is strange that ships like the Kol, Akkan, Marza, Sova, and the kodiak all have autocannons, but they all sound different.

An old thread, but what the heck. What are the benefits of additional levels of the Akkan's Colonize ability? It seems kind of a waste when you could have either a better Ion Bolt or range & targeting bonuses (or later, Armistice).

Probably -- though its impossible to be sure without digging into the text files -- a reduced cost and cool down.

Starting with some infrastructure might make additional levels worthwhile. The cooldown timer I haven't had a problem with, Akkans being as slow as they are.

Thread necromancy is going to happen.

I havn't really seen much of an improvement between lvl 1, and lvl 3 colonize. Personally i agree that colonize dosn't need to be leveled at all. I usually save colonize leveling for last.

A useful change could be to reduce antimatter cost and increase the range on higher levels of colonization, or let them begin with a reduced initial income penalty. I'd probably still not bother to level it up though.

has anyone else noticed that the akkan is left handed. if it's primary target is any where but on it's left it will rotate to the left even if it already has a right broad side on it. which i thought was to protect the hanger but the hanger is on the left side.
