What ever happened to slingshoting?

I remember reading in PC gamer (i think that was it) that ships wouldeven use a planet or 'roids natural gravity wellto slingshot themselves aroundto try andcatch a fleeing oponent? was this idea scraped, is itstill planed, or am i imagining things? 0.0

it was planned and tested... it was one of the primary things that made me interested in the game in the first place.

Apparently it was scrapped because it confused some people... you know... the velcro shoe crowd.

Ok good i wasnt imagining things! lol

wait... *has velcro on his shoes* lol

But anyway i think it would be greatto bring it back maybe for one beta test and see how people like it, it would be great even if itwas only arounthe stars of a system as they are somewhat larger of a battlefeild than the other smaller fields

Er, because orbital mechanics "just weren't fun". Our (separate) argument had nothing to do with that.

Edit: Or were you trying for some kind of ironic effect?

lol @ lordkosc's statment

But i think orbital mechanics would be ALOT of fun if the AI could use it well instead of making the player plan it all out then introduce it first in a tutorial so people arnt blindsided by the idea lol

too late. Though slingshotting could come back easily enough and I wouldn't mind.

I think its a great idea, but game mechanics would be messed. The ships dont move fast enough for this to be plausable or at all "cool" looking. Therefore we either have the slingshot and increase ship speed, or do without the slingshot.
