A ship with a view

I love the way you can toggle from all points of view in the game. However, what would you all think of a hot key, that when you are clicked on a specific ship, would jump you to the screen-view of that ship as it faces forward? When there is only one battle without much micromanagement, I like to zoom in on specific ships and watch some of the action up close. In addition to the other view-enabled hot keys, it would be nice to shift to the prospective of a given ship and watch some of the action first-hand.

Just a thought...

Although it wouldn't be very functional, it would add some nice aesthetics to the game. I can just image watching from cockpit view of one of my bombers attacking a Kol or a Marza. I think that would be great.

It would be really awesome especially if something like that scene from Star Wars happened, where an enemy fighter crashes into the bridge of your capitol ships as your watching form that position.

The novelty would wear off pretty quickly (as it did in HW-Cat). Like Hizaed said, It would only be cool, and useful in replays

It's sometimes nice to use a ship as a focal point of your strategy, so it could be useful.

Yes it is, but not if you cant see what else is happening around you. In "pilot" mode you would be stuck with just a narrow "viewscreen" view from the front of a ship. Unable to see from behind, or from the sides. I wouldn't play the game like that at all. However as said it would be cool in replays, and would make awesome screenshots. Perhaps a camera system can be implemented like the X3 camera where you have multiple focal points if focused on a single ship. Haegemonia had different camera modes when focused on a single unit as well.

I think the diversion of effort from other, more important aspects of the game doesnt make it worth it.
