My copy of the game refuses to install, and also refuses to give any reason: when it begins the installation process, after I have selected the directory and so on, it simply says, "Error" and closes. Nothing else whatever. Does anyone know how this might be solved. I have checked my drivers, my system's hardware, software compatibility, and installed it from the administrator account, so it would be none of the usual things...

this may be in the wrong area, but i will see if i can help.

did you download the game or purchase it in a store?
a downloaded copy may have been corrupted during the download. redownload and try again.
do other applications install? ie the SoaSE demo.

if you purchased in a store, i would take it back to the store and say it is defective and get another copy. if it continues to fail, then there is an incompatibility somewhere. i would need to know more about your system. you may also want to look at the windows event logs to see if they captured any errors.

my computer doesn't crash, freeze in fact it doesn't do a single thing as if i never hit the play button so im out of clues....I also installed the update but didnt change anything

yep it is my laptop after all ^.^ I tried running it as admin cause I have an Inspiron 1521 "vista"(great OS...not really) but didn't work as well

I looked at other vista problems listed but, they were all different problems in that they could actually get to the cinematic or actual game screen. where I can only go to the launcher under program files, any help or solutions will be greatly appreciated thx ^^

Hmm. Perhaps disabling/enabling some options in the user.setting file?
Perhaps ShowErrors.
Could an antivirus or something like that be interfering?

Have you tried throwing your laptop out the window? (Not recommended unless it's on fire.)

I think that the lowest resolution supported by the game is 1024x768.

In the user.setting file, try changing the resolution to something your computer supports, and maybe changing whether it's windowed or not. Also, try turning off the intro movies using the user.setting file. (Shooting in the dark now.)

Ive been having online issues specifically with 1 of my friends... if either of us hosts a game, we cant join it, it just disconnects us from the game server, any way to fix this?

IMPERIAL_SHADOW,

two options...

1. If you're on game-version 1.05 or less, please download and follow the steps in my guide "Networking and SINS" linked-to right under the GREEN writing in the OP of
this thread.

2. Each of you go to www.impulsedriven.com, download IMPULSE (Stardock's new distribution system and the only way to get all future patches). Install it, then click the blue ORB in the upper right corner and click "show pre-release versions" and update SINS to the 1.1 BETA (version 1.09) which will not require you to forward any ports etc.

thanks,

the Monk

lemon-rev,

Seems like the wrong thread to post your question in......

however, since I'm now here.....

It depends on which race you're playing.  The vasari can cap those extractor's with a scout, the tec and advent need to use their colony frigates.

i understand that this is the wrong post but it seems logical to post here since its more technical than problematic i have captital ships fragits and extra ships in this one spot of this long mine i cant seem to get ether ship to distroy i might how ever get more different types to try and destroy it, also how do you take over lone asteroids or mines doesnt matter if crystal or metal ?

You can't "destroy" those extractors, you need to "capture" them with the ships I told you to use in my first reply to you...

i guees the post is alright.. at least i wouldve posted it here..... those are Neutral extractors, they cannot be destroyed. (wich kinda sucks btw.. what about respawn !! :/?)

you can capture them however,

Vasari has a scout vessel with capture neutral extractor ability, remeber to turn auto scout off... otherwise it'll just ognore the capture command 60% of the time...

Advent: use a plain colony frigate to take over the extractor.

TEC: use a plain colnoy frigate to take over the extractor.
