Computer issue

Ok seriously what is up with this game? The first DVD I tried to install crashed my computer so badly that I lost internet, keyboard and mouse use. I thought my computer was dead until I discovered that it had disabled my onboard hardware in the BIOS.

So I uninstall the game and try to re-install, thinking perhaps it was just a bad install. When I try to re-install I receive an error message that prevents me from even installing. So I take the DVD back to the store and trade it in figuring the DVD was bad.

I had to re-install windows so that I could install the game. Once the game is installed I see the intro movie. "Cool." I thought, "It works." As this is farther than I had made it with the previous DVD. I click on the general tutorial button and BAM dump file and crash.

Can anyone actually play this game or is this game just a ploy to sucker kids out of their lunch money?

I downloaded my copy and so far it has run flawlessly. Haven't tried installing from DVD yet though.

Sounds like there is problems with your computer rather than the game itself. Have you updated all your drivers for your video/sound card and other components

Also, remember to click update before you try playing it. There's a 11 meg patch already for retail.

Funny, the one thing you didn't consider in all your post is that your PC is having an issue. But it's definitely a problem on your PC configuration whether you realize it or not. Sounds like two completely different scenarios, one while installing the other from movie playback. if the movie is on the DVD then I would look at your DVD drive, like latest mobo drivers for instance, etc. Hard crashes like that are spelling bigger issues. Also make sure you reinstall latest directx, just for fun.

The DVD is of course a computer-hacking super virus infecting you with a botnet cleverly disguised as a "real time strategy" game by the dastardly co-conspirators Ironclad and Stardock. It's a good thing you saw through their clever plans, though not without the loss of your lunch money.

Sins occasionally crashes on me right when I load up a massive map with all AI players, but other than that, it's been smooth sailing.

This doesn't sound like a game issue at all.

I downloaded the patch. Still no go. My DVD drive works fine, I'm still able to install other games. I checked to make sure I'm using all of the latest drivers.

My system:
Windows XP Pro SP2
Intel 3GHZ CPU
Nvidia GeForce 7800 GS OC
2GB RAM
Integrated gigabit LAN
Integrated AC'97 Audio

How long has your system been up? Do you do malware/spyware/virus sweeps on a regular basis with multiple apps? Have you done ANYTHING within the last week to change your system settings or have you installed anything other than SiNs. This includes pressing "ok" on websites. Do you have auto-update enabled?

My first guess would be a system issue. Second guess would be some type of hardware failure. The absolute last place I'd assume the problem to be would be the game. Key fact is you commited the same action and didn't have the same results. Points away from the game.

If I were you I'd do a system wipe. Not to play the game, because what you listed are very serious issues.

wow thats kinda odd i have my laptop at full power just to run this game at min settings and it runs fine enough (which is odd cuz i didn't think my processor could handle the game but w/e) my idea would be to rebuild you computer from scratch yea it blows but solves most all problems

I would say check your audio drivers to be sure seeing how they are integrated. Sometimes they can go un updated for quite some time.
