I think that they are all easy to learn. It just comes down to what race earns your interest.

TEC are by far the simplest, the vasari require quite a bit of intelligent dedication of force, and the advent require a good combination of fleet force and a little micro, but the TEC are really just powerhouses.

What tips would you give to a beginning Vasari player?

You want volcanic planets (and you'll need them, because trade ports don't come until tier 5). They have research to reduce pirate attacks very early on, so conserve your cred and let them come to you.

Use your navigators to find asteroid belts/gas giants and colonize the mining bases on them.

They're not a very big culture-producer, their research tech goes towards reducing cultural enroachment.

The Vasari get to build their own phase lanes between their planets, so if you're having trouble juggling multiple frontier planets getting hammered, build their phase stabilizers in your system and they'll work better (you can also summon ships or something, the summon the dark fleet tech)

Volcanics are generally very metal heavy (which is something the Vasari struggles more with than the other races, especially in the beginning).

The other races generally covet ice planets over volcanics in the beginning One major advantage the Vasari get is that their scout captures the neutral mines. Since your scouts fly around everywhere in the beginning, it's a lot easier to capture them than having colony ships run around.

IMO they are all the same as you can autocast abilities and the AI is really good on using them at the right times (vasari carrier's repair thing just when most of my ships in range's shields go down)

the three races are VERY balanced. there are alot of similar units and the primary differences are in their technology trees and their capital ships. they do differ heavily in emphasis. TEC get trade ports very early, Advent get culture buildings very early, Vasari get some important military upgrades very early. in the end though each of the factions has access to the same fundamentals, the biggest changes are how those things are slightly different and when you get them and how much they cost. 

 

so my point is that there's no race thats particularly advantaged or disadvantaged vs. TEC than another. just play a race that you find appealing and try to learn the nuances with experience.

The thread was, for all intents and purposes, dead.  It is now alive once more.  Therefor, thread necro.  The purpose of the reply is irrelevent.  Seriously, this is over a year old, most of the people who posted in it aren't even active anymore.

 

 

Who cares, a good thread necromancy never hurt anyone (its just when you bring other things back from the dead that we have issues...).

 

Anyways, Both transitive and vitamin are correct. While the three races are well balanced, the TEC has one or two researches/abilities that are only really effective versus vasari (phase missile block, quick ship buildrates/repair rates), the advent have on or two against TEC (extreme shields and high firepower with supporting ships), and the Vasari have one really good one against advent (phase missiles). These aren't really significant enough for a player who has spent time to really learn one race to change it just becuase the opponent is playing its counter, but if you are equally good (or bad) with all three, you can gain a small advantage with this.
