I thought I would take the initiative here, and start a simple calendar for games going on any given day in a week (starting today). I am starting this thread because as one of those who cannot host because of my LAN connection from the university, I've decided that there needs to be a bit more effecient resource for us to find hosts, rather than wait in the lobby all day. I will update the first post (after the required info section) each time a new game is scheduled. Still I can't promise I'm on 24/7, so please scroll to the bottom of the thread for new games I haven't had a chance to include yet.
So here's the plan if you are a:
Game Host
1) Confirm that you can indeed host the game despite the message that comes up. Make sure you host the game with a password! This is to reserve the place for those who joined through this thread.
2) Check latest replies to see if "joiners" or other players already want the kind of game you want to host. If so go to step 3, but make sure you schedule game for a time they are available. If nobody wants the game you want to host, just go to step 3. (I know a bit anti-climactic)
3) Reply to this thread with the following information (preferably in this order):
Game Name (Should indicate if it's Newb or Pro/Expert or "Comp Stomp" or Free-For-All. If the game is open to all and not comp stomp, then just have a name without "Newb" or "Expert" or "Comp Stomp")
Your ICO Player Name
Number of Teams AND Players If it's a free for all, you don't need to number the teams. If you want teams, just indicate the number. As the host you can figure out teams in the lobby. If you really want to figure out teams via the forum, then I'll make a special entry for you.
I will manually ad the "slots open" information, and write down the player's names who have signed up.
Date and Time of Day (include timezone and day-light's savings information)
Scenario or Map Name. If the map with in-game generator indicate number of planets or special considerations (like Pirates/no Pirates).
Name of Channel for Players to Meet This is so you can tell them the password. Remember, you should create this channel when you log on.
Any settings that are not "Normal" For example include if you want "High Resources."
Any Special Rules Be Specific I.e. "No attacking for 1 hour."
Minimum Game Time This tells players how long they should set aside for the game.
Here's what a host entry would look like
Monday, 2/1/2008 (yeah, yeah, I know):
The Scourge's 2v2 Newb Game
Scourge012
4 players, 2 Teams (2 Slots Open. Players: Scourge012, Scourge013)
2/1/2008 8:00 PM EST
Medium Random Map
Lobby of the Scourge
High Resources
No Taking A Second Planet Until After First Pirate Raid
5 Hours
If you are a host and want to change settings at the behest of the joiners, you are free to do, but please, don't go on here and schedule a 2v2 Newb Game with Normal Resources, then tell everyone just as they join the game that you really want to play a 5v5 Newb Game with High Resources...let's keep this as consistent as possible. If settings are changed before game-time I will try my best to change the top post.
If you are a:
Joiner Only
1) Look at calendar and latest posts to see if there is a game you would like to join
2)If so, just reply with your:
ICO Name
Game Name You Want to Join
3) If there is no game on the calendar or in the replies, then describe the kind of game you would like, and when you are free. Please use the Host information form for describing the game you want (above). Make sure to indicate that it is a "Proposed Game" Work out times with other joiners and hosts. I will keep these "Proposed Games" In a separate section Once the game has found a host, I will move it to the first section.
Other things:
I think the community would appreciate it, that if you are schedule to join a game, but you can also host AND there is another game of the same type that is only "Proposed" that you instead volunteer to host that game. Remember "random" joiners can be found in the public lobbies--so being short a player or two because they have to host another game is not a big issue.
Also if you sign up to host or join a game you better darn well be there.
Scheduled Hosted Games:

Proposed Games:
