The game started out perfectly with no hitches, but recently it's been freezing every couple of hours, and it keeps that behavior until I restart. This is exactly the problem I had with The Witcher until I did a few things, and now that game runs perfectly.
Following this post is the exact things I did that fateful day, and I was wondering if anyone with more technical experience than may can maybe see something about a setting I edited that would cause this game to mess up.
The only difference is that I used 3072 as the UserVa value.
Control Panel -> User Accounts ->
Turn User Account Control On or Off.
Untick the box which say: 'Use User Account Control (UAC) to help
protect your computer'.
reboot
From the Windows command line: BCDEDIT /set IncreaseUserVa 2800
Then you must reboot your computer.
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> disk drives -> double
click on your(s) hard drive ->policies -> Remove check for Enable Write
Caching on the disk.
right click on your shortcut, go to properties, compatibility, put a check to disable visual theme and Disable desktop composition
Do the same thing for Witcher.exe found in c:\program files\the witcher\system\
Start the game from the file Witcher.exe found in c:\program files\the witcher\system\
