Multiple Computers

I was just curious if you can play a multiplayer game on a LAN without multiple keys?  For myself, I have two computers, one for myself and one for my son and want to be able to buy one copy of the game for both of us to play each other.  Let me clarify that I am not talking about us both playing multiplayer online as I understand that would need multiple keys.  Anyone else tried this yet?

Yes, In the manual it states that you can use 1 key for 2 installs for LAN play. I have tested this and it works.

ok question for you then... i have tried doing the same exact thing, but it keeps kicking me out of the server screen everytime i try to log in... i just want to play against my brother... any ideas in how i should go about doing this i would really appreciate this?

You don't log on to ironclad for lan game.. Its under the "multiplayer" option not ironclad onlien.

great advice what about three or more computers? can a LAN game be done without additional KEYS. I am hoping so since it does not copy protection.

If i remember correctly you don't even need the Key to play on a LAN the key is only used so you can get on ironclad online account and play online.

so in turn you can probably supply an entire LAN on a full 10 player game using one game.

Nope you will need additional keys. Tell those bums that want to play to buy the game.

Do you even need the Key for Lan games? You don't need it to install and you don't need your ICO/SD Account for LAN ...

I never had to enter my key when i installed the game the only time i had to enter it was when i clicked Ironclad Online which brings you to Sins website to make an account. if go to multiplayer menu i don't even need to log in just click multiplayer and it browses for LAN games.

Plus you cant even get the patch for the game unless you use your key to make an Ironclad Online Account. cant get the patch anywhere else. which also means that if you do install the game on another machine you wont be able to play with them because they cant get the patch without an account.

Just install the game on both machines (latest version or release, up to you, so long as both machines have the same), and create a network game via the Multiplayer button (NOT Ironclad Online). There's really not a lot to it.

if they can ping each other I can assume that:

You're not running a software firewall on the PC's OR that you'll allowed ping through any firewall

SO...

if that's the case, then either you are running a firewall and although PING is allowed SINS is not, or your "network discovery" is malconfigured/malfunctioning.


If you're running a software firewall on either of the the machines.....either disable it while playing or add an exception for SINS.

If you're not running a firewall and still can't "discover" LAN games on either machine just enter the local IP of the machine in question and you'll be able to connect.

Seriously though I am assuming both machines have the same OS? Vista and XP have some issues sometimes when trying to lan them together in games.
