BOTF

I found my Birth of the Federation disk recently and just remembered how much i LOVED that game and how much time I spent playing it.  

Then it hit me just how similar it is to Sins, even when the games are so different  X-( 

Limited empire building and cat & mouse fleet movements come to mind.

I read somewhere there was going to be a BOTF2, but I haven't seen anything recently about it.

I really miss the good old days !

I love that game. One time, the Borg destroyed half of my empire before I had a chance to do anything about it.

I still have the game and got into some MP action with a friend of mine using Hamachi. However, unlike Sins, the game was incredibly buggy and there was no after market or in-house support from the developers / producers which is a damn shame because the game coulda been nearly perfect.

My friend and I got into some huge battles but the games always crashed. We lost interest and haven't played it since. I called him up and said we should limit the fleets to be no more than about 50 ships in any one sector at any time.

This might also cure the other problem in that in BOTF, you tended to amass HUGE fleets to go at it literally leaving your borders open because you were so scared of the concentration of enemy ships. With my idea, there could at least be some strategy instead of just stacking-up.

They really do need to make a BOTF2. That game would probably be more epic than this one, if done correctly.

BOTF remains one of my favorite games of all time. I actually still play it fairly often (albeit with mods now). :HOT:
