I noticed something very interesting in a game i just played. I set my ships to attack an enemy's radiance cap ship, and to my surprise as the cap ship jumped to retreat, my ships followed it! I could not explain this at first as i had not given a jump order, just an attack order, and in every other battle if th enemy ships retreat AI does NOT auto-follow.
So why, then were my ships automatically jumping after the enemy cap ship? Watching a little closer i noticed at the time the radiance was using its animosity ability. Bingo! This is the only explanation I could come up with, and if this is correct then animosity is def a double edged sword.
On the one hand animosity causing ships to follow the a radiance if it jumps is a brilliant special ability, since it can possibly divide an enemy's fleet, turning the tide in an otherwise even battle.
But on the other hand if the radiance is about to be destroyed, it effectively ensures the cap ship WILL be destroyed even if it retreats, since the enemy will be right on its tail.
Does this sound right to people?
