A Battle and Questions
Battles
Just finished what was my biggest game to date. Was a stalemate but was a good game. It was the medium scenario, “Systems of War” (4 faction, FFA, single player).
Anyway I had what were that biggest battles of my Sins time so I thought I would post some pics of my last one:

The Battle Turns... (And not for the better)
Questions:
Now I did win this game “barely”. What I mean by that is I defeated my final opponent with a peace treaty in place with another so I “won”. That’s all well and good but I continued playing just to see if I could take him. I couldn’t it went back and forth, 1 system for another over and over again. Does this game make these stalemates to tedious? I mean I pushed this a looonnng time. I don’t remember having to detail it bit by bit this much in CivIV or Alpha Centauri (another great 4x game). Do others feel the same or is that just 50/50 hindsight? I felt in those games I could eventually overcome my opponent. Yeah it may take a while but I would do it, and always thought that I could. In my scenario above I never thought I could. It really felt like we could go on playing forever. So again does there need to be something else in place to “break” this type of situation? I mean if I had beaten the last faction without the peace treaty in place this would have been the only way I could have won and I know I would not have stuck with it. In the fight above I just let the battle rage on and then quit the game.
Any thoughts?
