Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

it's dead. i think its creator attempted to revive it, but it never got off the ground.

Not likely. FOX is sitting on the rights. There were some rumors a while back about Joss trying to get it over to sci-fi but nothing ever came of it.

They've got a couple of comics out now, taking place between the end of the series and the movie. I think there are a lot of people who want it back, but not enough, and not the "right" people.
May 10, 2008 18:30:41
There's been talk of a second movie, but Joss has said he doesn't want to think about it right now. He was just happy to get to make the first one.

Now he's busy doing other things.
May 10, 2008 18:54:54
And if they did make a second film, what would they do? The best characters are either dead and the mystery behind River has been revealed. Maybe something on Sheperd? But who knows. I think they should leave the movie. Maybe continue the tv series up to the point when they know Mr.Univers. It's sort of like Star Wars, leave it while it's great. Don't tarnish the name.

Mr. Universe and Wash went to school together...

I watch a TV marathon on the Scifi channel. It was a good show but it seemed kind of stupid when they use weapons that seems like it belongs to the wild western era.

That was kinda the point of it, a western in space...

It was the juxtaposition, that amalgamation of things that didn't seem to match that made the show what it was -

Inventive, magical, and ultimately doomed to cancellation.

Oh well. At least we got the movie.

I totally loved this show! And I thought it was interesting that the 'galactic slang' was Chinese. I couldn't understand what they were saying when they spoke Chinese though - and I AM Chinese.

I'm sad that you're saying there won't be more shows. The movie was excellent and I thought it suggested there would be more shows. But I guess if it has to end, then it ended at a good place.
May 11, 2008 17:14:50
I'm not sure it was Chinese -- the companions seemed to be based on Japenese concepts. (Gaisha is the name, IIRC)
May 11, 2008 17:44:50
If you watch the special features from the dvd set of the series, in one of the interviews Joss explains where the concept for thee world came from and why its a chinese/american mix. It is indeed supposed to be chinese that they are speaking.

and IIRC the first movie did not make enough money to garner any sort of sequel, the actors were all on very short retainer for such a thing, and most of them having moved on means it'd take some very concerted Whedon magic to get either the series or a sequel movie.

Further, Whedon himself has moved on to a new series with Fox (why, Joss? why?!) called Dollhouse, that actually sounds kind of interesting. Here is to hoping it doesn't get cancelled.

I think actually it was suppposed to be mandarin?
May 11, 2008 18:10:21
And as already mentioned, sadly its deader than the deadest of birds, you know the one

IT was canned mid series, hence why only 14 episodes. Joss released the film (having had some trouble getting funding) to bring some closure for the fans the show had amassed.

Sadly, I doubt there will ever be another film
May 13, 2008 16:54:56
Well I thought the show was shiny and it's too bad its air thru the intake now....

I loved the whole pretense of it - the characters, the verbalizations of an older antiguity and the just we are tuff enough to make it it wherever attitude..

I could see another movie but it would have to have a REAL good script with a couple of sparkly new characters.
May 13, 2008 17:10:06
The setting was nice, but the characters were boring. Especially Super-duper-hyper-I-can-take-out-an- entire-army-and-won't-even-get-blood-on-my-clothes River Tam was so overdone it wasn't even funny. The character might still have worked if they had found a better actor for her, but Summer Glau is not very good at conveying strange, yet strong emotions believably. She has good command over her body though, probably that was why they chose her, for the action scenes.
May 13, 2008 17:27:05
That cast and writing team had real potential, as did the setting. I would much rather have had another season or three of the series instead of Serenity.

I'll have to keep an eye out for this Dollhouse thing. Hopefully Joss hasn't moved on to building his retirement nest egg and has another interesting one for us.
May 13, 2008 17:32:50
I think it would be easy enough for him to make more movies in the verse.. serenity did show something big that surprised me a bunch tho, during the season, I had assumed that these were different stars they were traveling to, not just all the planets in one system.. We all love the characters onboard serenity, but he could tell alot of other stories from many other points of perspective. Look at how many spinoffs star trek has spawned
ps. shepherd is dead, unless you did a time travel thing, stories about him would be sorta boring

How did he leave Serenity?

On the episode where they took him to the alliance cruiser for medical treatment, why did his name evoke such a strong reaction?

Methinks there is plenty of back story there, yet to explore. Especially about his freaky-deaky hair!
May 14, 2008 03:37:49
in the movie, they get to his planet just as he was dieing, he lived long enough to say that he had shot down the one that had killed his (town/village/commune?)

The DVD Sales on the collectors edition did extraordinarily well (sold out) they released an additional 'Collectors Edition' on HD.

Give it a little more time. Several of the cast have said they are a tight-knit group that would be up for a sequel.

Family guy rose from the ashes after high DVD sales, so I wouldn't give up hope on another movie.

I like to be hopeful, but time is kinder to voices than it is to faces. If the original crew get too much older or too involved in other projects, the spinoff might be the better hope.

I was also really surprised and pleased to learn that the thing had been set in a single, complex star system. We don't get enough FTL-free stuff from screenplays in space.

Yes, we know how he died...

the best hopes for the firefly universe is the MMORPG that is in the works.
May 14, 2008 16:35:29
Josh Wheldon has said he'd like to do something with the Firefly/Serenity universe again but with new characters as he has completed their storyarc. But I wonder if that's so -- since he seems to be the kind that loves to create new things; I hope he does though.
