Everyone seems to know inherently how to run these mods, yet I can't figure it out or find any info as to how i make it work! I downloaded the seven deadly sins mod and need help getting it to work. If you know how please explain it to me like I am a retard please, and I mean every step. Thanks!

Don't feel too bad - it is a bit complicated.

1) Find your sins information directory (this is not the game directory). If you're running XP, it's likely here -->
start at c:
go to /documents and settings
go to /[yourcomputerloginname]
go to /Local Settings
go to /Application data
go to /IronClad Games (if you don't see this, you selected the wrong User directory above)
go to /Sins of a Solar Empire

(Yourcomputerloginname is "User" if you never created a computer login.)

2) This should have a /mods directory. Put the mod's files in a subdirectory under that folder. So your path with the mod files in it should look like this when you're done.
c:/documents and settings/[yourcomputerloginname_or_"User"]/Local Settings/Application data/IronClad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/mods/[mod_directory_name]

3) Start up Sins and in the main menu, choose Options. Click the mods button.

4) You should see your mod name on the list on the right. Click it, activate it at the bottom so a green checkmark shows up, and then click the option that tells it to start every time you play.

Good luck.

Thanks you, I finally got it to work with your help retro, but now i have a new problem. I have downloaded some mods and finally figured out how to place them in the right folder. I go into the game and click to enable to the mod and enable on booting the game. I head to start a game and click new game but once I get into the new game I find that nothing has changed and I am still just running the original un-modded game. What gives???? Im pulling my hair out because I really want to try out the 7 deadly sins mod but I cannot get it to work right.

Many of the mods don't show any changes until you've actually played into the game a bit on random maps. Sins is still a very new game and there haven't been any "complete overhauls". You'd only see the changes Seven Deadly Sins brought in, for example, after you conquered a few planets on a randomly generated map.

I have downloaded several mods now and tried them all and I see no effect on the game when i enable any of the mods. Would themods not work with the latest patch? I just cant get how to make them work.

also make sure that its labled mods directory instead of mods. if you label it any other way it won't show up in your options

Do you mean that you are using all of these mods at the same time?  That won't work most of the time because of compatabilit issues.  What mod(s) are you using?

Bill,

if youre using vista, go to C:\Users\(username)\appdata(this folder may be hidden)\local\ironclad games\Sins of a solar empire\Mods

OR

C:\Users\(username)\appdata(this folder may be hidden)\local\ironclad games\Sins of a solar empire\Mods-v1.16 depending on version of game

then paste mod FOLDER in there. if there is 1 folder inside the zipped folder use that. if not, UNZIP it, and paste the whole thing into the directory.

Bill if you want 7 deadly sins v2.1, you must have v1.05 of vanilla sins.

Just a suggestion of thought you should read about the requirements of the mod in the main post, usualy they display it in title or in the first several lines and if you can't find it just ask in the mod post. before you freak out and make post.

If you're running Vista/7, then it's now just called "local"

You also need to reveal hidden folders in order to find "app data".  That's all in the link that Ryat provided in the previous post.

"Frakking!" would really be more in character for a scifi space game.
