Creating a new class of ships

I have an idea for a mod which I intend to create with an additional ship class.  I call this the Olympus Class.  These ships would be similar to the Capital ships one would imagine where they would be nearly indestructible.  These ships would have something similar to older ship styles where yes they would of course have forward cannons, but they would also specialize in broadside attacks capable of ripping a fleet to shreads.  In direct combat they would be unstopable as they are essentially a huge floating mass of guns.  These ships would also function as mobile starbases and as such they would be able to create a new type of fighters called Strike Craft.  The one weakness (so far) of these ships would be their mobility.  Directly engaging one would be suicide, but hitting it from behind could spare you.  What you would have to do is position a group of capitals behind it and tell them to continuously move to avoid it from bringing the main cannons to bear.  The reason that I say this is for balance issues.  Regardless of cost, once you had one of these in your posession, you could simply walk through heavily fortified planets to their capital and destroy it with the main cannon.  They would also have some characteristics of the capital ships in that they would also gain abilities and level up. 

These massive ships would be limited to one and only one for obvious reasons.  Another thing I was wondering about was:  where can you build such a collosus...  Well my solution is to resize the capital factory.  These ships would not directly be a new class, but they would have prerequisites and such high prices (aside from being the size of a planet..) that they may as well be a new class. 

These ships would also be requiring the research of the corresponding superweapon, as well as their own prototype.

Each would be centered around something related to that race.

TEC: battleship

Vasari: dreadnought

Advent: carrier

But anyways, here are some of their stats:

Trinity Blade

Forward guns: Prime Cannon, 9 StS Missile Launchers, two torpedo tubes, 12 autocannons, two uber heavy laser cannons

Both Sides: 7 very heavy laser batteries (150 per shot)

Abilities

Glory: boosts the shield regeneration and cooldown for a short period of time. 

Thor Torpedoes: essentially a combo of ion bolt and missile barrage.  It fires two huge torpedoes at the target.  IF its not destroyed outright, it will have its abilities, weapons, and engines deactivated, and will also be nucleararily contaminated.

Return Fire: for about a minute, all recieved damage is reverted also sent to the target, and by level three, it actually doubles the damage given.

Prime Cannon:  Available at level six, this unlocks the full power of the Trinity Blade.  It is similar to Cleansing Brilliance.  Every Passing second, it deals 1500 damage to the target, and anything in between.   The beam has a duration of 15 seconds.  This uses 1000 antimatter, and disables all systems after firing for 20 seconds, as well as its engines.

Judgement

Starboard: four beam cannons

Port: one beam cannon, 7 plasma cannons

Abilities

Onrush: sends forth a large group of strikecraft to deal damage for a short time

Prominence: A large plasma wave shoots off the star and into the target, dealing heavy damage and disabilizing it for awhile

Heavy Drones: slightly increases the power of the combat drones

Mass Conversion: Essentially a more powerful version of domination.  It CAN take control of capital ships (I have yet to prevent it from getting the other Olympus ships though...)

Norgul Genocide

Forward: six phase missile banks, three pulse beam projectors

Both Sides: eigth plasma wave cannons

Abilities

 Evacuation: Increases rate of movement for the ship by massive amounts and decreases the charge time for jumping

Colonize: Max population infrastructure instantly

Destroy Shields: Instantly destroy the shields for all the ships in an area

Genocide: Kills everyone on the planet in one fell swoop, increases your culture, and also sets planet health to 0.

Thats fine, and i am going to add null points once i finish making the uv map. anyhow, for some reason i feel like playing stalker for a bit...and then i will continue on with the UV map, maybe, just maybe by the end of the day you will see screenshots of the TB...otherwise...well you guess.

Well as promised the screenshots of how the ship will probably look like (me letting my imagination go from flowless judgment to human war machine) anyway its all your call Volt for this one, but im letting my ideas get out there, this is just a simple texture i made, If you are okay with it it will be scaled down more and made to look alot betterm, lots left to do, all the cannons need to be textures and there are some errors with the mesh need to fix those. but I think im practicly done with UV mesh. anytway here is some teasers.

So I guess these are my changes: (yes I know some haven't even been addressed yet)
1. add more strip lights everywhere
2. make the side guns dark grey with the tips the player color (ffffff)
3. prime cannon body- give it little groove lines, if you've played Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I mean like the subspace gunship's cannon I guess.. make it be ffffff
4.prime cannon tip-its ok to leave the inside edges of the flanges grey, but I want a silver central section and a black tip for it.
5. body-could you try one where instead of blue its dark grey for the majority??

Hmm, i think what you are saying is that you want a gun metal, black gray combo, i will try to do a rough sketch tonight and see if you like it, the flashes i will add all over the thing if you want, but i will do that later, i also need to creat particle effects for that, maybe i will borrow some that are already created by sins and rename them. anyhow. i will see what i can do. I might not get to it tonight, still working on the car, flushing the radiator fluids at the moment earlier instaled break booster and some flood lights, i might get some pictures of it up later, anyway...

I'm wondering if my system will be able to handle this mod, but do want. REALLY nice texturing, needs more detail but I'm sure you're getting to that. Great job :)

Looks freaking awesome. I hear for the next version of his mod, maybe the 2.0 FINAL, DANMAN3712 will have the vanilla races duplicated and have the duplicates modded with Kreyson's battlewagons mod. Also, since they will technically be no longer the vanilla races, he will mod them and add some new ships and possibly researches. Long range cruisers for starters, plus some nerfed LRF's because LRF spam is the oddly the most successful tactic ever.

Long story short, I suggest you contact him and ask if he wants to add your Olympus classes to those duplicates.

We can, but as far as we can see the ships are no where near getting ready to be done yet, out of 3, 2 were modeled, 1 was textured, and non of them are yet working at all. once we release first verision we will contact Danman, and see if he wants to add our mod to his later.

Opinions are great, actions are better, dont like it donwload XSI mod tool and make a model that you think looks right, then send it to us and become part of the mod team...Other then that, its all up to Volt on this model... and i think he likes it... and so do I...

But anyway, Im having a bit of trouble with making the texture looking right, if i make it reflective then in let say a green enviroment the ship looks green not gray unless you zoom out, since the ships are so large the texturing and so on is having problems with doing reflections and so on corectly, i need to play more with the data map and see what i can do. then i shall see oh and here is what it I mean

Note though the texture is gray... The problem i think is in the data file. need to work iwth that.

Well the body looks pretty good, but your problem with the glare, there is a glossiness setting u know..I think its in the mesh file...so set the glossiness to 0 and make it a slightly lighter grey, and I'd say the man section would be good...

Also, the reason that they are huge is that this is a battleship. it is supposed to be armed to the teeth. All of the side cannons are beam cannons, as well as a couple in the front.. the rest are autocannons (for the most part)

Damm sorry didnt report back in a long while didnt do much anyway (anything that is) all hell went loose over couple of last 4-5 days, my car kept breaking down, now its finaly fixed, with some goodies installed in it (boost gauge, extra flood lights and an Intercooler) and bunch of parts replaced (spark plugs, radiator was flushed, tire puncture fixed, tuned to a degree, all the pipes that got screwed were replaced (one of the fans broke of and fucked up all my intake pipes going from the turbo to manifold and going from intake to turbo, replaced the damm thing with an intercooler from a later model car, it just drops in) and now it seems to run okish, only thing is instead of 8psi i get only 4psi... oh the car is Saab 900T 1984 model) and then my cat got sick...gahh anyhow now that its over i have to write an essay today, so no updates probably till fridaish...anyway this is a bit of my rant hope that your week was not a shitty as mine, volt, srry but i guess i will be holding you off for a bit...

I had an idea to do something similar to this.
I think it would be a great idea to have one massive ship but the only problem is balancing issues.

And on a side note: I thought I was the only person to play O.R.B. I agree I would like to see some of the abilities of ORB in Sins such as Ram, Kamikaze, and powerdown.

I also have to say that ORB was to scale as opposed to Sins where sizes between ships, planets, and stars are way off.

But then again I like the Sins gameplay much more than ORB mainly because the AI in ORB would flatten me after five minutes into the game.

You guys got any ideas on what you want the Vasari ship to look like?
'Cause I know a few modelers who owe me a couple of favours.
Not sure if they'll help, but I might be able to get them to model it for you.
