You can scuttle your colony.

in a gameplay aspect: it would make sense, if for example a main front were far away from one team player and he might wish to have a planet or asteroid closer to the action for a forward production, supply and repair centre. as such, one team member could conquer it or it could be an allied effort, but ownership can later be transferred to whoever can make the best use of that world. this problem of course only exists because only one player can construct structures at any one planet, but thats ok.

as for realism however abstract that is: for one, leaders give up territory if they have to, when faced with an overpowering opponent or following a military defeat. one could argue last weekends events as a distant example, other examples include various provinces gained or lost throughout the centuries, aka franco-german regions, northern italy, parts of china, etc. etc. and, sometimes, countries just swap territories for one another. I think germay gave away some african colony in favour of an island closer to her homeland. so, yeah, that happens to.

that was geeky now. in any case, giving away planets, be it for allied team operations or in the wake of an enforced cease-fire would be a welcome diplomatic addition imo.

I think that would be a great way to do it. I mean really at one time was'nt half the world a colony of England, France etc... There are a many reasons to give up one's ownership of a colony/planet that could be beneficial to both sides. By allowing this transfer it would allow for a greater diplomatic part to the game.

allowing a team mate to build something in your world would wrk if you had to ok it first - i like the idea that a partner who was playing vasari could build a phase gate there. that would help out in over all defense and even offense. for example youcap a world in an eenmy star system then they could put a phase gate there and save the expense of caping a planet to do so.

or make certain things like phase gates and trade ports team assets instead of personal that the whole team would benefit. as i see it there could be improvements to benefit team play. right now team play is limited - it is reall a collection of indivuals playing some what together

now that is a good point makr it a reasearch idem with eight reasearch labs with a very high price in $$ - metal - and crystal.
