e8400 on an asus p5n-d (750I) OC'd to 4 ghz.  4gb memory   i've tried running sins on both a single 9800gtx+ and also with SLI and SLI doesn't help sins AT ALL.  When i play sins my video card temps barely rise at all.  On big maps once fleets are assembled the game slows down but it is still playable however i can't be zoomed in or else my system chugs to 10 fps or less.

 

Heres my question.   I don't mean to be out of line to the developers but,,,,,  why would you include 8-10 player huge scenarios when even they can't be run on a current system?  I for one love playing huge 10 player single player battles for 10 hours but the slowdown is rough and I have a fairly solid system.   Has anyone been able to enjoy a large game with fleets and maintain a solid framerate? 

 

BTW:  You might as well buy an E8400 3.0 ghz duo for $169.00 on newegg instead of the one you have mentioned in your post.

LOL.... I'm nowhere close to any of those specs and sins runs fair on my system 6200T/C AMD3000+ 1(yes) 1Gig of ram. Thats with most settings on except AA. It has some slow moments, but ive seen worse on many other games.

Q.  What are the hardware requirements?
A.  The Iron Engine takes advantage of the latest machines and scales to support older hardware as well.

Minimum Requirements: 

 

  • Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista
  • 1.8 GHz Single-Core Processor
  • 512 MB RAM (1 GB for Windows Vista)
  • 128 MB DirectX 9 3D Video Card (Radeon 9600 / GeForce FX 6600 and above)
  • DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card
  • DVD-ROM Drive
  • 3 GB Hard Drive Space
  • Keyboard and Mouse
  • DirectX 9.0c

Recommended Requirements:

I'm on a laptop with a Radeon Xpress 200M (integrated, turbocache only) using 256MB of my system ram leaving me with 768Mb free, and a celeron-m 410 (1.46Ghz) and I can play fine with textures @ highest, details @ high, bump @ low, bloom & AA off, 1280x800.

Basically, this game runs on pretty much anything from the last 5-6 years, possibly more. PlasmaPong has higher actual requirements than Sins ^^'

I have to say I hit a lot of lag, large 3 star map, me and 7 computers.

All settings lowest, no AA, bloom on, 1400 x900 75hz (monitor native)

some skyboxes off, trade ship icons off,

C2D 2.66ghz (stock) & 3ghz when OC'd, 4GB ram, nvidia 8600gt oc2,

 

runs equally crappy when OC'd and stock, no discernable difference.

what gives?

What gives? I have a system just like this (just like the reccomended requirments) and I'm having freaking problems with anything more than Med fleets on a 4 player custom map. Sins needs to do better than this because I know they can. Come on, step it up. Even people with systems far better than mine are having problems. WTH. Stardock, it's time to make some MAJOR ratifications.
