Sins: FreeSpace 1 - A conversion project for Sins of a Solar Empire 1.17

This should be the final release for this FS1 era mod.  It contains the update and a couple more fixes.  The maps should also work with 1.17 now.  Install instructions included.  

 

There is a new mod in the works for the FS2 era and entrenchment.  When that is finished we will hopefully revist the FS1 era.

Probably.  The FS2 portion will be an extension of this mod, probably for Entrenchment.  Nothing is set in stone though.  Im just gonna focus on this for now and then everything can be reused for the FS2 portion.  Depends on how much help i get as well.

hey i have a problem. i updated to 1.12 and i unziped to the mods folder i can enable the mod just fine, it doesnt give me an error message, but when i go to play. the choices i get are tec advent and vasari, i tryed playing with tec just to c if the names werent changed but its just sins, not the mod. am i just retarted or did i do something wrong?

Hmmm, sounds like the mod did not enable.  The music and text should change as soon as its enabled.

 

Did you unzip the whole rar to your mod folder?  The mod folder is inside a main folder so you have to navigate to the second one and put that in your mod folder.

like this:

FS1MODv06

->FS1MODv06

->MAPS

Copy the second FS1MODv06 into your mod folder.  hope that helps.

 

The files in the MAPS folder go into your Galaxy folder in your install directory.

 

I have found an issue with the freespaceTGWBIG map.  The player2 (3rd) homeworld is not set as his homeworld.  easy enough to fix.

damn dude, this mod is incredble. my main concerns rest with the total health of most of the units. I think that either the health of the units needs to be dropped or the repair capacity of repair platforms raised, because right now i don't want to wait 10 minutes to repair a leviathan after a battle, then move on to the next one.

 

the models are absolutly incredible, though.

cmdrleeadama, the first update will be addressing the repair platforms.  they will be getting a boost to their repair rate. Another thing i forgot to do.  and the data maps and shadows for the models aren't finished so they should improve as time goes on.  glad you like it.  there should be lots of improvements coming.

The link work... but i give up... speed around 25 kb/s ( need more of 2 hours for a full download ) ... already 4 time download stop between 50% and 70% ( connection to the server reset )... and i cannot use a download manager to resume a download... these filedropper is the more bad file repository that i have see until now...

It worked fine for me. I was doing about 92 kb/s average.

Around 300 kb/s now... maybe too much people was trying to download these mod in the same time during the day...

Love the mod so far.  The FS games were always a favorite of mine and this mod is a wonderful tribute to FS 1.  One problem that I have had however is that when I move my cursor over the icon for the Shivan Cruiser, the game immediately shuts down.  Just thought I'd report that tid bit.  Otherwise it looks great and is fun to play- 

 

Few questions though:

If cleansing brilliance is going to be the mechanic of choice for most of the super heavy beam cannons, are there plans to modify it in the future so it can be advanced up to 3 ranks to improve performance and give players something to do with those skill points their capitals earn?

Will the Lucifer eventually be given shields?
