I had the same impression.  The first time I built a starbase, I was like "That's the starbase?!"  Also, yeah, it totally underperformed to my expectations.

Actually, for some reason I was under the impression that starbases were something you really had to tech up to late game, and I thought it was going to cost 100,000 credits, and God knows how much metal and crystal.  I thought it was going to take God knows how long to build while I protected the area with a fleet.  I was totally surprised to see it like tech 2 (on the vasari research chart at least), and compared to the visions of the thing I had beforehand, "wimpy" is an understatement.

Actually, some people may be against this, and I understand that, but a "death star" type of thing would probably be the most appropriate kind of thing I could think of.

Yeah Starbases are the hot girl you always wanted to do, but then find out she, let just say "disappoints."

What if there were (atleast graphically) obvious different parts of the starbases? Not much, just cool little additions. For the TEC the starbase gets 4 little ball-lasers and 4 sticks. Not all that exciting. Maybe there could be big changes with each upgrade? 

I think the worst part was how few fighters they could support... i mean seriously three.  This thing is freaking massive (i agree though, too small) and i have to pay that much to get fighters that can be taken out by one flak frigate.

But i think its epic when you build one on an enemy's planet that already has one^^

I want the ability to dock mah ships in the starbase >.>. Then pop them out when the bad guys come.

You mean the one that fell 6 feet to the ground as I was hammering on the inside?

Starbases need to be more powerfull, but i'm quite happy with their looks and size. As it is now, seeing a starbase makes me go "ooh, a soon-to-be cool explosion!", not "Holy shit! Retreat! Retreat!". I like the first, but would prefer the latter  

I would like to see a more impressive starbase as well. I think the cost would need to be adjusted but I'd really like starbases to be more dominant in combat. Their range is a big problem. They operate almost like big defensive turrest at the moment, they should be firing huge laser cannons from much farther out. I hate how in order for it to be effective the enemy has to drive their ships right into it.

They would be a much more useful and interesting tool if they could hit from extreme range and basically acted as a counter to the long distance weapons like carriers and such. I was expecting them to basically make a solar system an unsafe area for the enemy, instead they just make a small area around the station an unpleasant area...

I'd love it if they had warp jammers built into them as well.

I want to use them as ambush points, so if an enemy jumps into a system they are greeted with a space station that is going to rip them up before they can safely jump out.

How much you wanna bet that in the next month all complaints will stop and everything will be awesome?

The issue isn't the begining cost or strength thats perfect UNLESS WE DOUBLE THE SIZE AND COST AND STRENGTH. I'm hoping that happens.

My definition of starbase (comes form my experience with the game MMO EVE) is a base all on it's own that serves as it's own warp field. It can build ships, it can fight, it had a shield, and is worth fighting for and losing it is a big loss. (except for those freaking big clans with 2000+ people that have 20 of them *dang it*)

The best thign i think a starbase could do is establish iself in the middle of neutral territory and gain control of astroids and space or by itself create a Gravity well. Triple the size. I mostly would vote for the neutral territory.

Plus entrenchment was supposed to add defensive might. Make starbases have a phase inhibitor upgrade. 1000% charge up time upgrade 1 NO PHASE JUMP AWAY Upgrade 3. Really if you're paying that much per upgrade it might as well be worth it. We need a Phase Field Destroyer. Make it so you can actually force them to attack a planet.

I hate it when peopel are right. Stardock is doing a great job. Being new to sins (not new to rts and space anything) i foound Sins to be the best RTS i've seen in a long time. Missing a faster single player speed and speed adjustment in game (overall not to one specific thing).

If what i said above happens make it so starbases cost resources to upkeep. 5 credit income 1 metal 1 crystal. Make it so that this is put to good use. Free and fast ship repair, massive guns, ability to actually control a nuetral gravity well. Support several squardrons of fighters (6+). And be able to house all the upgrades. Make then be able to target multiple targets in all directions from it's central location. Along with this i want to have frigate factory upgrades. (No cap ships)

The starbase itself owuld have no logistic slots but it would have most of the normal logistics available in upgrades.

Visual upgrades are woudl be gladdly accepted. When i upgrade to hanger bay i want to see the hanger bay.
