-= (PRESENTING... YOUR FAVOURITE STARSHIP) =-

Hey people, time to get your cyber hands a little dirty!

Everyone likes to imagine their dream starship, whether so you an play with it on galciv2 or not it's always something we sci-fi fans love to think about. Well now's your time to share.

It doesn't matter if you can not draw for nutts! Just pour your heart and soul into a drawing or picture or model of your dream ship or ships. Let go and have fun, use any program you like. You can even just describe it to the rest of us if you like through text. For those of you with a more creative swing you can even give us the full cinemas experience as you tour us around you ship on a MPEG, AVI, or whatever file.

Just go nutts with it people, lets get Creating!

My favourite starship;

Name: Dave Mengchang
Captian: Number 1 (he looks like his ship)
Crew compliment: unknown
Weapons: Blasters
Defences: Magnetic sheilding
Important notes to remember: This ship's fax machine is located between his lower back and upper thigh . It can even print coins .

Hiigaran Destroyer all the way. Cmon, the thing fires broadside, it doesn't get any better than that.

That is a rather nice design there, Akkan. I like designs with lots of edges, although the ancient ship Aurora (?) design was VERY nicely detailed.

A small aside for the SW vs. ST guys: There's other threads dedicated to SW vs. ST theorizing. I suggest you move it to there; life's too short for this thread to turn into that. (There's 39 million and counting hits on Star Wars Trek vs on google. Personally, any such comparison would be decided by plot, not throwing around doubtfully-calculated numbers.

Anyway, back on topic:

I would like to call your attention to the Renegade Legion: Leviathan board game - it is about space combat. (Interceptor -> fighters, Leviathan -> capital ships, crusader -> ground combat, and Prefect -> system invasions.). All interconnected to some extent - you could fight out the battles in Prefect by using the other games.

I did like the Shiva Battleship design, but that's not what I'm thinking about, really - rather, how I *thought* it looked before they showed something other than the side view.

As we all know, one of the best basics for art is association. For starships, marine life would be a decent inspiration, and if you want an evil, cold, dangerous looking ship, you could hardly go wrong thinking of a ship inspired by a shark. Not a 'shark in space', just slight design features implying the same grace and danger.

Either that, or lots of sharp edges and pointy stuff. That works too.

(As chimp's last design shows.).

But while large battleships are cool, my personal favourite would be a luxury yacht. One that I could see the wonders of the galaxy in.. assuming we were in a reality where there is a lot of interesting stuff out there.

Quoting danw13335,

Reduced 79%

Original 757 x 375Bam. Two F-303 fighter bays, railguns, missile silos, transporters, beam weapons, an Asgard computer core, and (because this is what really matters) an awesome captain's chair.

Daedalus-class battleship. Maybe not the most powerful, but it's definitely my favorite of all the various starships in all the various sci-fi shows I've watched. (obviously I didn't create this myself. For anyone who doesn't know, it's from the television series Stargate SG-1)

The Daedalus Class Starship was also the first line ship of the actual Federation Starfleet, and was decommissioned by the year 2196. This was established in an episode of ST:TNG, "Power Play", and verfied in "Enterprise" episode "These are the Voyages...".

It was capable of only warp 7, I believe, but had phasers, defensive shields and rudimentary transporter capability.

It has been specualted that the USS Archon, of TOS episode "Return of the Archons", may have been a Daedalus Class ship.

My favorite starship is Darth Vader's giant Star Destroyer, the Revenger.

This ship?

I thought that was the Executor, the lead ship of its class?

if you go to the front page on www.sinsofasoalrempire.com there is a screenshot of the new diplomatic relations screen in the game. you might have to right click and save it to your computer to see the whole pic, but once you do, have a look at the contruction bar down the bottom and it clearly shows 6 cap ships

Orodum yes that is the Executor. However the one from Episode IV was the Devastator but the Executor was not the lead ship, just the first.

Well there was no Executor-class Super Star Destroyer in Episode IV: A New Hope.  However, in both Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, the SSD in question was in fact the Executor, not the "Devestator".  (This is taken directly from the offical site, by the way.)

I would love it if someone could model the new Enterprise for GalCiv2.

It is, by far, the best remake of the old classic design.

The Firefly is a cool ship, too. But it would be rather limited being such a small hull, and more a freighter than a fighter.
