Along with the next Entrenchment beta update we'll be releasing Sins of a Solar Empire v1.14 which contains the following changes:

-Area of effect repair abilities no longer autocast on undamaged, partially built structures.
-Clutter reduction on shield projector effect.
-Fix for Pervasive Economy exploit.
-New voices for the TEC Cobalt.
-Fixed a sync bug.
-Updated network commands to better sync with ICO.

Version 1.14 is now available via Impulse.

HEY if they fixed replays, that would give us soem good solid data for discussion. 

Also 99% of the proposed carrier changes on this board are crazy and thank god they will be ignored by devs.  That is why I am not worried about the crazies much, otehr than to occasionalyl tell them they are crazy/wrong.  Final carrier tweaks will hit you all by suprise.

Even if they didn't, we could just mod the exact same changes on our own. Though hopefully they added the whole extras (I'm tired of the stupid repair bot noise) and balances into the update, or at least in a new one following the final lauch of entrenchment.

I assume you consider yourself to be the 1% that's right. Like you're the one to talk, you posted on the beta 3 thread about not changing the carriers and 2 posters slammed you immediately thereafter. 

Give us a break. You probably know nothing about what the developer's are planning and oh yeah btw us 99% of players (you gave us that number, not me) who think there is a balance issue are right. 

If it were up to you you'd probably let Carriers get 5 strike craft, 100 more hp, capital ship armor and a DEATH RAY. rofl... sad really.

CreditSuisse - the issue still remains. The people who are not complaining about carriers are the recognised "pros" that everyone talks about. That means they can adaprt/handle it - so the other people are complaining due to a lack of understanding the nuinces of the game

Correct.  I did not say I did.  I just know, from experience, that changes made don't reflect player's ideas most of the time, even if they reflect their desires.

99% of players (you gave us that number, not me) who think there is a balance issue are right.

Nice pulling stuff out of your ass and claim I said it.  As a matter of fact I was against light carriers having more than 1 squadron when it was proposed about a year ago by a fellow makign a mod.  He made the mod to test it and came back and agreed with me.

I'll be in the tiny minority that will shed a tear and wave fondly goodbye to the old Cobalt voice.  Then again, I'll probably also like the new Cobalt voice even if it's unleashed as something far worse.

I am of the opinion that carriers are not really overpowered as I have stated in other threads.  The entrenchment update has changes on carriers and I will reserve judgement on slowed construction of SC with enemies in well until I see it tried more.  It sounds kinda crappy right offhand to be honest and encourages rushing to carriers to achieve air superiority.  It would sound like once someone has air superiorty with those changes then it would be difficult to win it back and would encourage one to build even more carriers to kill everything with after air superiority is achieved.  I may be wrong though in its implementation and it doesn't look to be a change in vanilla sins as of yet though.  Time will tell though.  The anti-carrier people should really learn how to play better against them though instead of griping.  They are very beatable as they stand now.  The game as it stands now takes balance, strategy, and thought.  It isn't just lrm spam or even carrier spam that wins the day.  Not that I am against potential changes to carriers or tweaks to other balance issues but things aren't so bad as creditsuisse/doriangray and others make it out to be.  They just need to learn how to use what they have available already.

If the carriers do get nerfed, I will adjust my game play accordingly.  I really don't care from the standpoint that I will still win, no matter what "balance" changes are made, because I will use the units that work the best.

The only reason why I do care slightly is because the changes that are being made are going to make carriers as worthless as they were prior to v1.1 and I like having balanced fleets.

I will also say that the buff to the flak is badly needed.  They really should just buff the flak and leave the carriers alone.

It's been a sad week.  Unemployment up, the G8 GXP is dead, and carriers are getting nerfed.

Seconded; that voice is FAR FAR more annoying than any other voice in the game.  I don't know why people complain about the Cobalt, you can randomly pick any Vasari unit (but Vulkoras especially) and it has a more annoying voice.

I literally have to play Vasari with headphones because other people in my house yell at me about how annoying the voice responses are.  I don't get that for any other game.

So, they need to start adapting like the better players and quit using the same ole' tired excuse of "a lack of understanding the nuances of the game."

I happen to love the voice for the Vas.  Absolutely love it when the wife and kids say, "God that voice is spooky."  Hell yeah it is...it's supposed to be.

Does it still mean they can "cost-effectively" counter it? Can they counter it without using their own Carriers? 

People can counter carriers. They just need to jump thru 3 flaming hoops, balance 3 beer bottles on their arms, juggle 3 bowling pins while balancing on a uni-cycle. 

Also, you plain simply need 100% more micro than him, so what if! gasp, he is equal to you in micro than you still lose.

Due to major changes in the engine and data formats that Entrenchment uses as compared to regular Sins, many of the gameplay changes are not backwards compatible.  Blair has posted elsewhere that after Entrenchment is released he'll spend some time and see what changes he can backport.
