ALL mobile strike craft production -50% if enemies in gravity well.

I'm not sure if this was intended, as the change log only says Carrier cruisers, but all capital ships as well have a penalized fighter/bomber production if enemies are in the gravity well.  The particularly hurts the carrier Capital ships.  This doesn't seem to happen with Defensive fighters (Hangars, Starbases).

I can't be too positive, but I believe the carrier cruisers are 75% penalized and before that all ships were penalized 50% so I think the only change was that cruisers get 25% more now.

I'll have to double check later.  The one thing I think is the Carrier capital ships shouldn't have any penalty since that would make them actually viable to use.

The 50% percent penalty to Caps was there from beginning.

Im pretty sure when it says 75% it means -25% or 75% out of 100%. When they are under attack its lower like 30% and caps go to 50% when under attack but I dont think they have any penalty otherwise.

In some ways this makes the level 6 power of the TEC cap carrier a bit stronger.

you are correct.

ALL ship or structure with strikecraft have their build rate reduced by 50% when they are under attack. next to that, carrier cruisers get an additional -25% if enemies are in the same grav well, which brings them down to 38% production rate (75% from enemy presence * 50% from under attack = 37.5% ~ 38%).

Does that mean they're still at 75% production efficiency if they're just chilling on the edge of a grav well while the enemy fleet is tied up by other ships?

Because from the volume of some of the screamers over carrier nerfs, this just makes them look downright silly.

that's what it said in the changelog and that's what I observed in the game. haven't played enough to judge it properly, but I'd say it's a fairly good change. it is of course hard, because it affects ALL of them, so if you are attacking with 50+ carriers and all of them suffer - 25% construction rate, I'd say it really hurts and makes a difference. but then, you'd still need a concerted effort to bring the original 100 squads down, so I wouldn't yet say that carriers become useless. but it may be too early to tell.

so? these were powerful tools of strike craft muss morder before. now they get more powerful, because said strike craft are harder to replace. well, it just means you have to look out for your stuff more. you also won't let a fleet of lfs run headway into long range frigs and complain that they're all turned to dust.

I'll be honest here, Vasari got the short end of the stick with abilities against SC.  I've mentioned in another post, and I'll say it again: For Vasari, your anti-SC fleet is 2 skiranta's, 1 Kortul, and as much flak has you can afford.  For TEC or Advent, 1 cap is all that's needed.

If you think about it, reducing the production rate is right. The carrier is no longer pushing everything into ship production as it has to divert much if its resources to defending itself, repair crews, and so on.. with the TEC ability, they are basically for a moment diverting ALL attention to crank out emergency fighters and bombers in a last ditch effort to save the ship. I'm glad they aren't trying to make it TOO real when this is done because then the carrier would also lose it's repair and shield rebuild rates... and suffer weapon penalities as crews are diverted to building fighters and bombers.

They have the strongest sc and cap killing ship in game...

Carriers are in no way useless from a 25% build rate nerf. They can still pour out sc pretty quick.They should go down to about 60% and lrf should get a 25% damage nerf to lf .
