grantlundquist, as far as I know from reading the various threads and readme's the particleforge SHOULD go into the game folder, as should all the other forge tools except the galaxy forge which can be placed in any folder, but a I have not used any of the forges other than the galaxyforge , I can not confirm that.

Question: how do I use the convertmesh format?

I created my own mesh for Sins of a Solar Empire - Trinity, and it won't work.

Even more important, the file was created following the instructions in the PDF files that accompany the forge tools.

Any one capable or willing to assist?

Now that Diplomacy is out I was thinking about doing some modding to SOASE.  When do you think the Forge Tools will be compatible with Diplomacy?

It mostly is. New DEV.exe's and ConvertData's are in the games root dir. Updated as patched. Reference files you need to make your own or get harpos already converted files.

the tools are, but the included reference files ARE NOT and WILL CAUSE minidumps.

if you want current reference files try this thread, and for diplomacy you will want ALL three sets.

Don't know what to tell ya...

When I got ForgeTools 3, of which the Galaxy Forge 3 was part of, I just run it from a folder on my desktop.  Nothing else is required or added unless I'm creating maps for a mod, in which case I have the galaxyscenariodef file and some icons for each mod ready to be dropped into the forge folder for use.

All I can think of is maybe it's looking for a copy of the game installed, but I've run it without the game installed, so dunno...

the forgetools developer.exe is from sins 1.15/entrenchment 1.0 is is HOPLESSLY out of date. use the one in yous sins folder next to the sins expanaion exe, and these get updated EACH patch.

In your game's main folder there will be dev exe's for each version of the game.  Quickest way to get there is (if you're running anything newer then XP) right clicking on your existing short cut to the game (even if it's in the start menu) and selecting the option 'open file location' in the context menu that pops up.  You'll see the developer executables in there.  Right click on those and select create short cut, and you can move those short cuts to your desktop for easy access in the future.

As Harpo the Great Fisherman already stated, those get updated with every patch so you shouldn't have to worry about them ever not working with your current game.

Is there a place we can get the Sins 1.193 Reference GameInfo files?  The one in the forge tools cause crashes (That or I am doing something wrong).  Even tried just copying unaltered files in same thing. Crash with a dump file.  Tried Harpo's File Factory links but they don't download for me. Just sit there then tell me to get premium.
