I am just wondering if some one could tell me how to convert and import the game meshes into the proper format so that I could open them in the XSI program.

There is a mesh import plug-in for 3D Studio Max that will import a binary format mesh file.  You can then export from 3D Studio Max to .obj format and import that into XSI.  Depending on your skills, you may keep the UV mapping but I tend to lose that as I'm not that expert on the modelling front.  Also, the imported mesh may or may not be ideal if it has been triangularized by the convertxsi utility.

Unfortunately, there is no way to directly import a mesh straight into XSI.

I tried importing that into 3dsmax, but it doesn't work even with a script that I got online

Your mesh file MUST be in binary format in order for the importer to work.  TXT will not import.

I have the 3DSMax importer and I can confirm that it does work, although I rarely have use for it.
