Impulse won't connect to server

Hey guys,

I've been unable to update my SoaSE since the 1.05 patch (and to claim my entrenchment that my friend bought for me) for some time now. Everytime I try to log on or even do ANYTHING it gives me the "Server is not responding, please check your internet connection" message. I think it might be Vista as the recent updates seem to restrict functionality. It has gone so far that Firefox is not able to contact its server, so I stopped updating Vista altogether. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is there a way to get updates and entrenchment without impulse?

No - you need Impulse. You need to fix/reinstall your IS (or downgrade to XP)....

More than likely something is interfering with your connection such as antivirus/antispyware/firewall software. I would suggest adding an exclusion for Impulse.exe within these programs.

As sort of a workaround, you can download the game installer/archive files from here http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/Default.aspx when you sign in with your Stardock.net account. This will download full copies of the games. To get just the updates you will need Impulse working.

To help accomplish this, if you can send us (support@stardock.com) your Impulse error log and your startup/dxdiag information we can take a look at your system configuration to see what might be giving you trouble. Information on how to gather these files can be found here: http://forums.stardock.com/341573

Quoting Kend0,

Already have added it as an exclusion to both my firewall and windows defender.

Gonna send you guys an email I guess.

I am currently having the same problem - and I also believe it may be a Vista64 issue - am running ultimate but had not done any updates that I am aware of. I turn off al anti-virus/windows defender/anti-spam etc... and still no joy. Any ideas?

It shouldn't be Vista64, as a great number of people are running it on that (myself included).

Your best bet is to email them.

grond1234, please email us your dxdiag/startup info as I detailed in my post above so we can take a look at your system and see what might be going on.
