As anyone who has tried mapmaking in Sins before, the current build of the GalaxyForge is missing many of the objects it can theoretically handle. Rather then wait for the Devs to update it (if they ever will), I have decided to included them all here (ships, planet bonuses, etc.), so you can include almost anything in your custom maps.

Note: It will actually work with any recent version of Sins, but if you try to load a map that requests an object that is not in the expansion you are playing, it just won't be present on the map.

Instalation Instructions

Extract the files from the .Zip archive. You should see two folders and a .galaxy map file. You can start making maps right away with the included modified galaxy forge, but to get them to run on your game, you need to place the "Diplomacy Forge Mod" folder in the mod folder of the game you are using. It only mods one folder (The GalaxySenarioDef file), so you can safely use it with other mods so long as they don't change this file (Bailknight's mod etc.).

To test that you've installed the mod correctly, put the included test map in the galaxyforge folder in the Sins appdata folder (where the mod folders are located), enable the mod and run the map. You should start with some nice goodies on your homeworld, as well as several other nice objects scattered throughout the map.

That link is invalid now as it's reached the download limit. I would really appreciate it if you could re-upload this. I don't know what making this mod manually entails as i've never done anything with sins. Thanks in advance. You're saving me a lot of time.

My suggestion is to use Mediafire or Filefont

I'm surprised this only got noticed 7 months after I put this up, but no problem. Good thing it is still on my extremely unorganized desktop.

I think that filefront automatically deletes files that have been inactive for a period.

Would be nice, though think you can email the file to me? PM me for the address.

Yeah, maybe I'll have to find somewhere else to host it. Of course I should probably make a diplomacy version if I have the time.

What I did add should work for diplomacy, it is just that anything diplomacy added like diplomatic cruisers wouldn't be in there. Unless diplomacy added new planet bonus it should work.

I might do that, as the third party links clearly don't like my uploads. X|

So go ahead and call me "green" by asking this, but so far with Diplomacy Forge I've been unable to create a series of planets with set artifacts and bonuses to be discovered when I colonize and explore them.  I've disabled the default template, set the Group to "Always" and "PlanetOwner," and have put the GalaxyDef file where it belongs.  What else am I missing?

Well you have to enable the mod (if they are the added artifacts), but artifacts and planet bonus also have to be under "NoOwner" instead of "PlanetOwner". You can also open the include test map with the forge to see for yourself. Also you don't have to disable the default template for to get the artifacts to appear, that just tells the game weather to spawn the regular random militia (or frigate factory if it is a homeworld) at the start of the game.

You can only put in what the GalaxyScenarioDef file contains.

I know, that's why a mod comes with it that puts everything that is missing in the GalaxySenarioDef file.

Sorry for the thread necro, but I installed this mod and got a mini dump error when I tried to enable the mod. Not sure if this is still cohesive with the latest version (geez they actually made a moddable game that is a pain in the a$$ to mod and make maps for I have now seen everything).

Any help or insight into what I may have done wrong (if I did) would help. I'm a pretty gifted modder and mapper and have experience modding around 15 different games (off the top of my head) so I should be able to follow instructions rather easily. I did take a break from the game shortly after Entrenchment so I could play and mod X3 Terran Conflict (which is a blackhole of time) so I am kinda out of the loop with this game.

And wth is with the Pirates now? They are crazy tough to a point of stupidity.

Well I just tested it with Diplomacy 1.011 and it worked fine. Do you have any other mods active or a different game version?

Yeah they made pirates a lot tougher. They did need it after Entrenchment as they were no match even for an unupgraded starbase, but they buffed them a bit too much. They've been getting nerfed after each patch though, so I think they'll get a big hit in version 1.02.
