Okay, well, consider the test complete.

I had a level 4 marza shoot down pirate defense turrets.  Here are the times it took for the marza to kill its turret.

Control (no abilities)-- 1:07

Radiation Bomb Lvl 1-- 58

Incendiary Shelss Lvl 1-- 1:04

Radiation Bomb Lvl 2-- 53

Incendiary Shells Lvl 2-- 1:02

 

As you can see, the Rad bomb did far more damage to the target.  It also did significantly more damage to the surrounding turrets than a Marza that isn't focusing its fire (and btw, by default, all the Marza's weapons focus on a single target...)

 

In other words, Rad Bomb is better.

 

 

On another note, I also discovered the Marza to be the only ship in the game capable of taking out an entire pirate base by itself.  Thanks to the pirates' lack of shields/mitigation, the Marza can kill them all in one round of Missile Barrage.

That is it does more damage yes. But it also soaks up a lot of AM, if you'd rather save your AM for Raze Planet and Missille Barrage, I'd recommend simply boosting the dps with incendiary shells.

Ehh...  Idk...  Sure it sucks up AM, but by higher levels, you will have more AM than you will ever need, especially if you have a Dunov/culture to back you up.  Beyond level 7, I already have culture through all my planets and tend to use the Marza on the defensive.  Its far more efficient that way and I can spam all sorts of things that would otherwise inhibit my usage of MB.

 

The point was, RB deals 480 to the target and 105 to everything else within range within 5 seconds.  IS deals 90 to one target over 15 seconds.

 

Another thing to note, when I said RB was better, I was referring to its damage capabilities, not overall, although I do believe it to be better in the end than IS...

 

 

As I said before, if this was on the Kol, it would be awesome.  A level 10 Kol with FH and IS would plow through enemy fleets.  DoT's and splash damage.  Awesome.  On a Kol, it would increase DPS by 24, here it just increases it by 6...  At level 10, that is about a 15% boost to the Kol and a 3% on the Marza.  That is why...  I just don't like it on a ship that doesn't get much bang for the buck out of this...

Good point. Doesnt have much place on the Marza with Radiation Bomb. Personally I jsut get Incediary shells instead of Radiation Bomb cuz I tend to use the Marza more for Raze Planet and Missile Barrage, and dont generally bother with RB. Personal preference really.

If this thing came as a researchable passive for the Kol, even if it was at tier 7, I'd get it ASAP.  That kind of power on a Kol would be unbelievable...  Imagine..  Bringing in a high level Kol with IS and FH.  Splash DoT's, health regen, cooldown decrease, and AM regen.  That would be awesome.  Its just as is, it seems comparitively weak on the Marza...
