Errors locating files on my XP

1st post, so here's my delima. I've downloaded the 1.05 update for SOASE and decided to download some maps and mods. But when i looked for the game on the hard drive, the directory was not:

C: \ documants and settings \ username \ local settings \ application data \ ironclad games \ sins of... 

So i poked around until i found them under:

C: \ program files \ stardock games \ sins of a solar empire

When i start the game and go to options, there's a "mods" icon, so that must mean that there's a folder for mods in the diractory... but for some weird reason, it isn't there. so i decided to just make the folder and put the mods there, but i start up the game and they are not there. 

i tried to uninstall it next inorder to reinstall it again and see if that would work, but i can't find the unistall icon, so i am at loss as to what to do next... please help.

first of all we are no longer at 1.05 update

download impulse www.impulsedriven.com

then let it update the game (ps suggest buy entrenchment, most mods are made for it anyways and it cost a well worthy $10)

afterwards those files should be put in place and you can find most of the mods in the download section or on the forums

i know, i'll download 1.17.

but the problem isn't that i can't find the files that i have downloaded, but that there is no "mod" folder for me to put them in. And also, i put the maps in the "galaxy" folder but they don't show up in the game...

assuming you have sins1.05,  the mods NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

NOTE 2 the 'user name' if the above paths is you WINDOWS log in user name, eg Administrator

Oh, they were hiding this whole entire time... well, who would of guessed? Thanks, it really helps, i might not of been able to have found them on my own.
