Modding micophasing aura to frigates?

please be more specific.

If you mean what it can target, then yes that is very easy. All you need to do is add 'Frigate' to the target filter of the ability and bam! you have an ability that allows them to be invulnerable for 1 second. Not all that useful really on frigates.

Doesn't this ability teleport fighters a short distance?

Want to apply it to a frigate so the frigate teleports!

no, while it SAYS that it teleports it, it doesn't actually teleport the fighter.

What it does is that every few seconds, a fighter that is w/in the abilities range will have the 'CannotBeDamaged' bool modifier be applied to it, making the AI ignore that object. The modifier is applied for the duration of 1 second, and then it is removed.

The illusion is that it 'teleports', but the reality is that the AI simply ignores it for a second. From the AI's point of view, the object in question would technically be 'teleported'.

  Is it possible to increase the duration of the micro-phasing? Say from 1 sec to 3 or 5? and if applied to frigates then that might be an interesting visual to "see" them jump from one point to another.

yeah, you can increase the duration easy. The visual isn't actually them jumping. It just applies the invulnerable boolmodifier so that the object is ignored.

yup. You got it.

Also, I think you may be interested in this- I have made long-range fighters. What I did was I used the Advent fighter mesh (SR-71 copy FTW!), created a frigate entity, gave it fighter movement, two special abilities, and an ability to spawn it in groups of fours off of a frigate.

The two abilities are- Stealth Systems&LaserDesignation (LD is an out-of-the-box version of Designate Target). Stealth Systems is a toggleable ability that applies the invulnerable bool modifier. And BOOM! A stealth fighter capable of long range operations.

doesnt a vasari utility cruiser have the ability to do a 'micro phase jump' within a grav well to close the distance to the target quicker?

yeah, the Subverter does have the 'Distort Gravity' ability, allowing it to teleport itself to an enemy ship, disabling a small (or large, depending on viewpoint) group of enemy frigates.

The thing is though, MPA says that 'Fighters are temporarily phased out, allowing them to be invulnerable and move into more favorable attack positions', or somethin' like that. MPA really just makes them invulnerable for 1 second, which would TECHNICALLY, allow them to move into a better attack position.

But it doesn't. It does help keep the already tough Vas SC alive longer though.
