Bailknight's Graphic Mod is undoubtedly the highest quality graphical makeover for Sins of a Solar Empire.  The following screenshot will testify to that.  Unfortunately, Bailknight has been gone from the forums for some time now.  In his absence, I've updated this impressive mod to include the gameplay changes introduced since Entrenchment 1.02.  And so I shall attempt to maintain Bailknight's work until the man himself returns.

Download Bailknight's Graphic Mod:

Release 1 for Diplomacy v1.01/1.011:

Patch from v1.00  5kB  mirror

Release 1 for Entrenchment v1.05/1.051:
Full Download  34MB  mirror

Don't forget to read the README.txt!

High Definition videos of the mod:

TEC vs. TEC Starbase *
Vasari vs. Vasari Starbase *
Advent vs. Advent Starbase (coming... maybe?)

Changelog:

Release 1 for Trinity / Diplomacy 1.01:
2010 February 20th

 - Merged the patch's changes to pirate ships & defense platforms

Release 1 for Trinity / Diplomacy 1.00:
2010 February 10th

 - Updated mod for Diplomacy compatibility & stats
 - Found & deleted a few more redundant files

Release 1 for Entrenchment 1.05:
2010 February 6th

- Integrated documented changes from the Entrenchment 1.05 patch
    - Note: Vasari heavy frigate recieved an undocumented DPS buff in the patch
    - Vasari mines now use the correct explosion effects
(neither I nor Mansh00ter noticed this bug before 1.05 fixed it  =p)

Release 3 for Entrenchment 1.041:
2010 January 20th

- Integrated Mansh00ter's mod Volumetric Explosions v1.2:
      - Added Mansh00ter's new explosion sounds -- but did not replace existing Sins sounds
      - Ship explosions now colored differently by race (TEC: orange, Advent: purple, Vasari: green)
      - Optimization of explosion effects to eliminate game slow-down when lots of ships are destroyed
      - Bodies now only jettison after explosions, not after damage effects (fires, air leaks, electrical arcing)
 - More realistic planet cloud texture & pipeline shader incorporated from EvilleJedi's Sins of a Galactic Empire mod
 - Fixed bug with Vasari Nano Weapon Jammer that caused it to constantly autocast without any enemies in range
 - Removed Bailknight's TEC Capital Ship Factory mesh since its textures were applied incorrectly
 - Reduced duration of Advent Bomber's hit effect, as using these bombers in mass could cause very artificial-looking grids on shields
 - Other minor changes:
      - Removed Bailknight's TEC Light Frigate mesh since it was exactly the same as unmodded Sins
      - Merged unmodded-Sins' glossiness values into the remaining Bailknight meshes
      - Fixed shield meshes triggering debug messages in developer EXE
      - Removed two unneeded .PSD files in the Textures folder

Release 2 for Entrenchment 1.041:
2009 December 5th

- Fixed texture for TEC carrier's missile turret that caused excessive bloom
- Deleted Vasari Enforcer mesh (and its shield mesh) since the textures were applied incorrectly
- Reduced opacity of the shield hit effect from 6x unmodded Sins to 2x

Release 1 for Entrenchment 1.041:
2009 November 7th

- Integrated all gameplay changes since Ent 1.02 patch
- Changed Advent Adjucator weapon projectile effect
- Deleted several unneeded files

*Note: These videos are from Bailknight's original mod, so the reduced shield effect is not shown, the broken Vasari Enforcer mesh is present, and the enhanced planet shader is not shown.

Does anyone know if this works with 1.01 or if it needs an update?

Quoting Lightning750,
Does anyone know if this works with 1.01 or if it needs an update?

It works with Dip/Tri 1.01 in the sense that it won't crash.
However, it will overwrite the patch's changes to pirate vessels & pirate gauss platforms.  Working on merging those changes into the mod.

I've just been trying the mod, which is excellent (and I'm eager for the Dynamic Movement to be updated for diplomacy to really make the most of the improved grpahics!) Anyway, I have encountered a potential problem. After about an hour or so, the graphics went a bit haywire; notably the buttons were not showing correctly; in fact a lot of the UI seemed to be showing the wrong textures or something. I managed to guesswork my way out and start the game again, only to have it happen (not quite so seriously) about ten minutes later. (Meaning I actually had a chance to save this time!)

I'm running on XP SP3, with an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT (drivers were reasonably recently updated, around the end of January, I think, approimatly when Mass Effect 2 came out).

I'm mentioning this mainly as feedback on a potential bug or glitch. (You'll have to forgive me if this is a known problem with Diplomacy proper, rather than the mod, but my guess is it's more likely to be something to do with the mod being graphically related.)

Thanks!  Although it's Bailknight who did the real hard work.

This mod doesn't effect anything in Sins at that low of a level.  Texture corruption is usually a graphics card issue.  Make sure your card isn't getting too hot & overheating.

For some reason I cannot see the Advent starbase's base laser weaponry.  The plasma and psychic upgrades appear fire, but no lasers.  Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm running nVidia GTX295, latest drivers, Win7 x64.

Right. I'll have a look at that. I have had the odd graphical glitch before on other games - but it's never been that exact problem, so I assumed it was software. Not thought to check that. Thanks. (I'd have replied sooner, but I was utterly unable to post anything for the last day or so, and all the relevant buttons had strangely vanished...)

Are you sure?  The Advent starbase uses plasma bolts as its base weapon, and lasers & psi-bolts as its upgrades.  The lasers are also pink like the plasma, and only shoot from the four corners of the starbase, as seen here:

This mod is amazing and greatly improves gameplay, thank you so much for keeping it updated Moguta!

However, I'm having an issue with starbases. My starbase is completely black, save for some glowing affects at the top and bottom. It only does it on the highest texture setting. Did I do something wrong? Thanks for any reply!

That file is for Diplomacy 1.01, not 1.19 of vanilla Sins.

Trinity is nothing but a package containing vanilla Sins, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy.  It is not a game in of itself.  If you are playing version 1.19, you are playing regular Sins with no expansions.  If you are playing version 1.05, you are playing Entrenchment, and if you are playing version 1.01 you are playing Diplomacy.  I will repeat: Trinity is not a game, it is just a bundled package containing Sins and both micro-expansions.

Hey i'm realy new to this Game and enjoying it realy much.

I like this Mod very much, Effects looking much better and i can see them from far away too (impossible without) but i think that the Shield strenght Effect is a bit to low and hard to see - was much stronger without any Mod. Dont know but is there a quick way to edit this by myself or do i have to change the whole Effect?

@AdventBase: Uhm dont see them too - wihtout any Upgrade there is nothing to see (funny because first time i played them was with this Mod).

Anyway ... Thanks for updating this Mod.

And ... Sorry for my stupid English.

@SpardaSon21: Is there a reason why some People dont play Diplo 1.01?

If they don't think Diplomacy added anything useful to Sins, they might not.  It still doesn't explain why Naildir wouldn't play Entrenchment though.

First of all, EPIC video of the TEC vs. TEC Starbase.

Now, I was wondering if I could ask a silly question. I was interested in playing with the planet bombing effects (just for personal fun, my modding life is like a raiders outpost). What files do I need from this mod to use them?

I'm still using Diplomacy 1.00.  Where can I find a compatible release?  I've looked around but was unable to find anything.

Thanks!

dukaso, i suggest downloading impulse from www.impulsedriven.com registering your diplomacy and updatng to the latest version, the reason you do not see a verson for dip 1.00 is it was out for only a week before 1.01 came out.

Speaking about updates, is an update needed for 1.011 compatibility or will the current one work since there weren't many changes?

Never mind, it works
