Previous versions of SoA 2

The Original Sins version, and Entrenchment version of SoA 2 is no longer supported!
If any 3rd party wishes to port Diplomacy, and Rebellion changes and upgrades to Entrenchment, or Original Sins, you have our blessing. We just do not have the time, or manpower to do it ourselves. If you do this please contact the team so we can give proper credit where it is due and post links.

SoaSE: Entrenchment v1.055

Sacrifice of Angels 2 v0.4.E65

SOA2 Entrenchment Fleet Mini-Mod

This release is not complete in any way shape, or form, but it is playable. Please read all of the applicable read me files. This version is the last version released for SotSE: Entrenchment. Balance has NOT BEEN ADDRESSED 100%. Not all units, are in the mod. The UI is a rough early version of the LCARS UI. SoA2 0.4E as with SoA2 OS is available only as a COURTESY for those that do not own Diplomacy, Trinity, or Rebellion. The Entrenchment version of SoA 2 is no longer supported. So Use this mod AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Original SoaSE v1.95

Sacrifice of Angels 2 v0.40S

SoA2 OS is a complete rebuild of 0.03c using some of the 0.4e components. It is a very old, and incomplete version of the mod dating back to 2008. It does not have the same features as the expansion versions of the mod do. Use this mod AT YOUR OWN RISK. SoA2 OS is available only as a COURTESY for those that do not own Entrenchment, Diplomacy, or Rebellion.

Understand that Original Sins of a Solar Empire is VERY limited compared to Entrenchment and Diplomacy. Most of the mod features we have in the expansion versions of SoA2 are NOT in Original Sins. Example: Dynamic Ship Movement, Star Bases, Structure Upgrades, etc. So this version of SoA2 will be a different experience than the expansion versions.

Commentary.

The UI could use a bit of opacity.  The font usage on the buttons is also less than legible.  I've got a .24 aperture 1600x1200 native NEC CRT. Rock solid stability, perfect color representation, no rough edges, it's bloody beautiful.  Running the mod in windowed mode at 1280x1024 isn't.  Stuff is flat hard to read, which is personally irrelevant since the stuff that's hard to read is already a known element to me, but anyone not absolute in their knowledge of the interface would be undergoing some serious eye strain with the wrong skybox.

Translucency is dangerous when your background changes gradient in a drastic fashion.  You should always have labels backed with a contrasting color and enough opacity to soften the impact.

Doing the best i can do with what i have to work with in the UI. I agree about the translucency, but that will have to wait until i finish all of the buttons. I may have to add semi transparant backgrounds to some areas just so you can see the interface better. My goal was a non intrusive Lcars style UI. The buttons are exactly the same size as the ones replaced. It has to be that way. Unless i get texture grid templates, or understand how the UI grid system works Then maybe i can expand a little, and make things more readable. Right now the buttons are cosmetic, and you have to rely on the info cards. The UI is still identical to sins in function. However, The UI seems to be fully moddable, but i wouldnt know where to begin on creating a new interface from scratch. In some ways i wish we could pull off a Homeworld 1 style UI where there is absolutely nothing on the screen until you push the space bar or hit a hotkey which brings up the build/research menus.

You want a JJ-verse pre-TOS era ship that is as big as the galaxy class (600 meter official scale) in the mod to be the diplomatic ship... I think not. Though "technically" it is a prime universe ship. It is also a JJ-verse ship. There will be no JJ-verse in the mod. It just complicates things way too much. We MUST ignore the JJ-verse despite how much we liked the movie. If we accepted the JJ-verse then Vulcan, and Romulus does not exist, and EVERYTHING will have to change. Dont get me wrong. I LIKE the Kelvin. Using it will just open up pandoras box, We need to keep the universes separate.

What about this for the Romulans?  It's what carried the Senator in "In The Pale Moonlight"

Romulan shuttle already slotted as a strike craft. However Nice try. That is the kind of thoughtfulness i like to see.

there will be some switching The current Talon will become the Romulan diplomatic ship, and the Science vessel will replace it as the scout. This is until i find or someone shows me a better alternative. least they are both canon. Before anyone else points it out. The TOS warbird is already slotted as the antimodule ship. Its research will be bringing it out of mothballs.

Ah, didn't realise that's how big it was.

And I can see why you wouldn't want it. Still, like I said, the Oberth's pretty cool.

Have you found any ships to fill the 2 missing roles for the Feds?

It means the mod is closer to release then it was before the yellow alert.

For the meaning of 'closer' see the meaning of 'soon'.

Hmm. So it just means that it's moved on, or that it's actually close to completion?

Edit: By completion, I mean a release

Well, fron what JTAYLORPCS said, they've finished the research and entity manifest, and are finalizing everything else. I'd say they're close, but dont take my word for it.

Great ! Since your last release I´m nervously sitting on my little computer chair every day ! Thx for all the work and a happy christmas so far !

I can`t wait playing the new version...

in addition: i`ve been working on a Star Trek map with all important territories for this mod. I`m really a noob in creating maps at that point. But, i don`t know, maybe you are interested in looking at it ? I think, a good map with all fractions could be very nice in combination with the new mod ! If yes, mail to hessemann@web.de !

What it means is that we are indeed close to a release.

Once i recieve the finalized researches they will be tested one more time in a brutal full game to make sure the AI does what its supposed to do for each faction. Since i am the one that is going to package the mod. I am doing the final test. Also the final at least for the 0.4e release UI tweaks will be done.

What to expect... Similar to the 0.4os release except ships will have dynamic movement. Weapon damage will be balanced a little better because of this. However no strike craft just yet. We are gonna wait until we have models for each faction to use (including borg).

If we decide to do a diplomacy port it will be identical to 0.4e. Except 0.4d will have diplomatic ships, and appropriete diplomacy research.

No promises on an exact date but we are indeed shooting for chistmas. Barring any major setback.

BTW Jay isnt the yellow alert thing a little overkill on the psyching people up?

Oh god I'm so excited

I've been re-watching the Final Chapter of DS9.  So excited to begin the Dominion War II

I have a question though, due to my poor memory.  The Dominion are going the be in this release, correct?

Cause I've realized, I fuckin love the Breen, and I'm really loving the Dominion lately.  I'm excited to spread 'peace and prosperity' throughout the Alpha Quadrant

Also, I saw a ship in OS that is misnamed.  It's the Klingon D-7 K't'inga.

The D-7 and the K't'inga are two different ships

"The K't'inga-cruiser was a direct offshoot in design-lineage from the venerable D7 class battle cruiser introduced sometime prior to 2267."

Not sure if it's still misnamed in the upcoming version, but I thought I'd point that out.  It's not a huge deal though.  Just trying to contribute to the best Star Trek RTS that's ever been!
