Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.

At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.

We are looking forward to seeing what you have created!

Interested in importing your models into Sins?

Visit http://soase.weebly.com/modeling.html (thanks myfist0)
The soase.weebly is a compilation of many of the hard to find topics created by many experienced soase modders and extensively added to by myfist0. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.

SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)

It's my thread so a few of my stuff...

Quoting viperfdl,
What programs are you using and does anybody know a program that is easy to understand for a absolut beginner?

Or does anyone have some experience with blender and could give me some hints?

At the blender site there are some video tutorials.  They are very helpful.

If you ever wanted to find a ship that could obliterate pretty much everything ever, you need not look much further than this.

The model is still not finished, it needs moar detailing, moar guns, and the structure for the bottom weapon systems needs to be improved and reinforced. This is the Glecterror, a model I created a while back that I am returning to finish.

The long, thin extrusions are Proteus-based Stormfront cannons.

I can't compete with that! I'm really just looking for feedback, here:

It's supposed to be a TEC shield regen structure, like the repair platform. It's my first model, so go easy

Also, it's not done yet. I'm probably going to add more stuff on it.

For your First model it's really good do some extruding on the flat sides and it'll be great!

What sides do you think are flat? I thought I had smoothened everything out.

EDIT: D: I forgot to save....

Ok, even though none of these models were specifically designed for Sins, I'm going to post them here anyway First up is the Tower of Ecthelion, you might also know it as the white tower of Minas Tirith from LotR (obviously it hasn't been textured yet):

Next is a submarine that I did, just for fun. It's losely based off the Ohio-class SLBM submarine. It's got a WIP texture, and I actually put it in game just for fun, although I don't have any pics of it in game yet:

And finally, by far my favorite, Barad-dur, also from the LotR:

Dang.

That's amazing!

Anyways, here's an updated versoin for my model:

The squadron bays are for an idea I had: would it be possible to make a new, squad-sized ship that hovers over a captial ship, keeps on repairing it, then when it's out of antimatter, returns to the docks to recharge, using up the main structure's antimatter?

And also, do you guys have any texturing/UV mapping tips for me?

Well, it has no textures yet, so no tips are yet needed

Just kidding.  You need more details on the upper and lower sections of the building.  Protude some trapazoids out and put windows on them as observation decks or something.

UV Mapping is a terrible thing Personally i am still not very good at it all i can say is if you want to do it quick XSI Mod tool is not the answer trust me.

I have updated the Anahn Longbow. It shall be process for sins very soon, along with the Great Knight.

9.8k poly, half of which is the turrets again. I optimized them to the best of my ability... but eh. This is a battlecruiser-class (not a flagship in the mod, just an upper-end "cruiser") so that's pretty low. I might fix up the front a bit.

"Gasp"

BTW Portal boat i would reccomend mainly adding greebles to those flat sides, and just in case you dont know what greebles means they are pointless blocks and what not that add spice to a model. Quite handy actually.

Updated the Zeral`Motakk's 2 year old model. Rebuilt the entire central body, used old spikes with some edits. 5.6k poly.

Zelconian Arcane-class. I kind of rushed this model and need to fix some stuff on it and add a bit more detail. 6.8k poly.

Here is my try to make a model:

Reduced 71%Original 800 x 600

That could become a TEC ship with just a bit more detail.

"EDIT" Here is another one of my models.
