Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.

At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.

We are looking forward to seeing what you have created!

Interested in importing your models into Sins?

Visit http://soase.weebly.com/modeling.html (thanks myfist0)
The soase.weebly is a compilation of many of the hard to find topics created by many experienced soase modders and extensively added to by myfist0. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.

SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)

It's my thread so a few of my stuff...

Here's the TEC Early Warning And Control strikecraft, the "Thundercat".

Here's the TEC ECM strikecraft which uses more active measures than the Thundercat.  Code named, "Shrieking Eel".

Can anyone take a look at the VL titan? The engine point for one, and it's over-sized "invisible self" that pushes it's own fleet around when phase jumping. It's like the modelers at SD got bored half way through making it and then just said "eh...it'll work"

Someone with the conversion program (which costs $) will have to pull it out and make it available.  I don't have access to any Rebellion models.

It took me awhile to figure it out.  If we ever come up with a "universal texturing standard" I'll be really happy.

Ok...the FINAL version of my Yggdrasil "Mothership" model.  After playing around with a lot of models and in-game textures and conversions and edits I managed to get it looking like this.  Next will be the particle effects to add to it--these are not final and some are a little off here.

Thanks.

It's actually supposed to be a gigantic hybrid extradimensional virus.  Sometime I''ll make a story thread for the mod when I am closer to having it ready.

I feel like I am single-handedly keeping this thread alive now...but here's my (nearly) final "Pirate Warbot" for my pirates conversion.

It would look tremendously better with the tangents set, which I am not going to be able to do but it isn't too bad.  In the mod, the pirates will have a single ship model (with some "celebrity" Sins names stenciled on their backs) and a single weapon--with each pirate variant firing a dedicated gun type.  Some will be antistrike, some antimodule, some siege, etc., etc.

If I can get the mechanics to work properly, I'm shooting for a single ship raid with each AI being a "mini titan". I'm planning repeating periodic buff that sets them to "explore"--so ships surving raids will wander the galaxy randomly and attack things.

The concept is they are "rogue AI's" who have escaped their human and Vasari masters to form their own societies.  They still need material and industrial support from their creator's though in order to upgrade and maintain their systems so they offer their services as mercenaries and pirates to barter and plunder for resources and parts.

So here's an "AI Pirate"...and if anyone wants to set the tangents on this small model I would be very appreciative.

Quoting Sinperium,

Well, if we can share texturing work I might have a new planet to show off eventually... assuming I can find some satisfactory solution for polar pinching with some of the different models I have...

Also, I randomly found this and did a double take on the name...

All the stuff I want to model is beyond my skill level so I doubt you'll be seeing anything from me for a long time.

The thread must liiiive!

I can never quite remember what format the texture saves are supposed to be in out of photoshop and I have butchered alpha channels on the few times I've taken a swipe at them.  Just too many RL things in the way so start cold turkey from scratch.

It's a time issue with me.  I am working on a business and starting a new one.  I can't spend uberhours working on it.  So I tinker where I can.

On the bright side, I'm getting pretty good at editing particles and mesh points for already existing things in notepad.  I made pulsating red glowing eyes for my Yggdrasil this morning.

Iskatumesk you need a 3D printer--I bet you'd have a blast with it.

Yah, Goa, "Yggdrasil" gets a lot of use in the Goth, neopagan and fantasy crowds.  Embarrassingly, the Japanese term for my religion ships also appears to have been randomly  made into some bizarre form of Japanese porn.  The Google search was frightening.  I may have to get a new name.

Warb_Null made the model and two skins for these. Aren't they pretty?

Give me both the .obj and .mesh and I'll do it.

Very cool models there Lavo and I really like the mystery model.  Looks vaguely familiar but couldn't tell you where I saw it.

The model is at this link Lavo and it uses the stock textures from the Deliverance Engine and the mesh there is the A.I. Pirate Warbot.

(*My Yggdrasil mothership now has 19 asynchronously pulsing red eyes and I am about to add smoke trails off the ends of the tentacles.  I'll post a pic when I have time.)

The Warbot had no meshpoints, but I'm sure you knew that. Added tangents, it looks really nice in Rebellion.

Wow--thanks very much.

Yep--it's cuurently pointless (pun intended) at present as each version has a particular function.  The idea is for pirates to be "wandering warships" that gradually grow from heavy cruisers to titans if they aren't killed.

Much appreciated.  If you ever need any specific model work, let me know.  I will go check it out now too.

Let me know when you're extremely bored and I'll send you fifteen strikecraft a capital ship and three particle meshes.

Seriously though, thanks.

Hah, trust me when I say I have plenty of work to do! I still need to finish all those vanilla Sins imports, I'll probably work on those next week when I'm out of town, as my netbook supports 3ds max. Strangely enough, it doesn't support Softimage. Plus other modding.
