ive never had this problem before.

i tried a new game, on normal.

i got CRUSHED. huge waves of enemies swarming at my planets.

so i tried a smaller game, on easy.

same thing, but the swarms occured a bit later than on normal.

scenario:

i have 3 capital ships, 2 kol, one akkan, and about 30 frigates, and a starbase.

the advent invade with at first 3 capital ships and 10 frigates. at first i seemed to do well, but out of the blue another two capital ships come, and an enemy starbase begins to construct itself in my starwell.

i retreated, only losing my akkan, while i rest and rearm in my neighboring planet. but i must ask, what is with the AI in diplomacy? im tempted to go back to entrenchment. at least the AI was resonable back then.

and in entrenchment, the first 2 difficulties were a breeze. i got challeges from hard and up.

"easy" shouldnt mean huge waves of enemy capital ships.

i have the feeling that the developers are trying to force us to use diplomacy.

how many dunovs are necessary? two?

16 . 1 will work if a Kol or anyother ship is the main target. Per se, if you bring it in slighty behind the fleet/battle. 2 is even better. They can support each other if they are taking damage. The more the merrier. Allows them to use their abilites more often. 3-4 with lvl 3 EMP will drain most anything with sheilds and AM. Or use them to Magnetize more than one Cap. They cant use abilites...and it will thin out any SC.

Against Advent you find no better ship. Against Vasari they lose alot of potental but still are awesome.

Your floating 737 fleet cap right now, I would suggest at least 30 carriers. 60% fighters, 40% bombers. Make a seperate fleet of them. Send your main fleet in to fight first. Followed by the carrier fleet. Keep the carrier fleet away from them and watch it pick them apart. This is assuming you spend the rest of yoru fleet capacity on either Kodiaks for durability, or a large LRF and Hoshinko assault force.

I firmly believe that Sins is won in the Skys, so to speak.

The only problem with using heavy Carriers is the Haylocns with TK. You will need to stagger your SC into waves to circumvent them all getting slapped at once. But it is a strong choice. I also suggest going 60% bomber and 40% fighters. Keep your bombers docked till you fighters and Flak clear the air. Then stagger the bombers in waves.

Again interupts and and AM shut down since it seems his fleet is 90% Caps. LRM focus firing on one cap at time will help.

so which enemy cap should i target first? the halycons so i can use my bombers to max?

also i added another Dunov and an Akkan, the rprevious one was destroyed in my last invasion.

i added another ten LRFs, and about 15 kodiaks. my ally weakened the enemy, i hope after i get some starbase-busting equipment i can head in and destory thier fleet. once i destroy this fleet they are finished, except for those starbases.

yeah, Halycons are a good first target to establish air superiorty, then the mothership to stop the sheild regen ability after that meh, what ever you feel like tagging

well i beat it. i had a amssive fleet with 50 LRMs, 20 cobalts, 3 Kols, 3 dunovs, 3 marzas, 1 sova, 2 akkans. 5 repair ships, and i crushed them.

it was fun.

This was a useful thread! I've always suspected that Dunov's were under rated, and usually included one in every fleet.....maybe now I'll start doubling up on them.

hoohahguy if you have 700+ fleet points to spare you're wasting alot of credits on fleet support for no reason. Don't go to the next level unless you plan on using most of the points!

Hi hooahguy, this thread has been a great help to me.

I am able to progress to about 10 planets in the simplest 2 player small game, then I just get overrun by the Solundi when I try to move to another planet.

I am looking at the structure of my fleet now and whether I have made good choices in ships.

I am finding this a difficult strategy game, being the first Space one I have played, normally I play Total Shogun, Total War etc etc.

I like the ideas and concepts in this though, just hope I can beat it eventually.

Revelations kill him--bs

Easy Ai kills him-bs

You had 3 capital ships, 2 kol, one akkan, and about 30 frigates, and a starbase------bs-------with auto attack off?

because sounds like you had: 3 capital ships, 2 capital ships, 1 capital ship and 30 frigates by the way you wrote that.

Stop lieing-you beat the easy ai with no problem

Edit

In your screenshot:

i wasnt aware rebellion had elite bomber squadrons, elite fighter squadrons and gunships.. you sound like a very dodgy guy-i don't believe you.. you probably had some nifty toys of your own that your not sharing with the rest of us-which is selfish.

Ps. Can you believe this guy-gunships. seriously!

That's cool and everything, but to spend the time to find, and bump a 2 year old thread isn't.  It would have been better to just make a new one.  Alot of the tactics people might suggest in here aren't as relevant due to the increased usage of mods and the updates that changed gameplay since this thread was made (mainly, diplomacy).  You also have Rebellion looming.

As a whole, the best way to deal with dying via being gangfucked by mass amounts of ships (and lag for the matter) is by reducing the fleet supply in half.  That was the first thing I did for my personal mod that I use with my LAN group.  It's only a fraction of some of the changes I did, but I found a happy medium atop a pile of other changes and inclusion of extra content.

Just got the game myself and I have to agree that the game is way over the top, even on easy.  There should be at least 3 lower levels of difficulty and some way to restrict the AI to how much it can build.

I think the last patch or two ruined this game.  The game is stupidly hard, the AI cheats and there are a lot of bugs, the worst one being your ships forget if they are on auto or not.

I would go far as to say that this game is now one big b***s up.  And a waste of my money.  I won't be buying anything more with the Ironclad logo I can tell you.  So glad I didn't go ahead and buy Rebellion.

Back to GC2.
