The second coming is upon us! The PCgaming world will never be the same again!

Music is good. Nice and relaxed. Sound effects are good (voices are really good!)

Gameplay is fast and furios and combatmicromanagement is rewarded so nothing for slowheads. Every race have a unique macromanagement mechanic that gives benefits if used (and is necessary for keeping up with a good player.)

Here's a stream: http://www.livestream.com/jobbies/video?clipId=pla_d3b54ec8-0b46-4706-925b-78a1216aab86

The graphics are better then what's shown in the stream (thank GOD for that!)

Zerg Hatcery and 2 Refineries

Closeup of Hydralisk in Zerg base

Zerg Spire morphing

There are a some screenshots over at http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft2/blogs/1656

I'd like to see a comparison between the online population of Sins before and after the StarCraft II beta was available

I know the fanboys will probably flame away but whatever..

Ummm.. I guess it's what fans wanted, but did it really take them that many years to come up with that? Same game with slightly better graphics and Warcraft 3's crappy zoom. Even the same sound effects and UI. I guess it was always just another rts for me, but I doubt I'll be buying it three times over and just wait for complete pack at a discount. Maybe I was just expecting something more groundbreaking.

Frogboy (and many others in Stardock) has a key and he knew about this. That explains the delay in Elemental Beta 1G.

Finally! I've been waiting 12 years to play the exact same game with better graphics! As long as I still need to have an average Clicks per minute of 200 I'm sold! /sarcasm

Dethadder

I'm pretty certain they had to build a completely new engine and like Brad says, that takes alot of time.

Then they messed around with alot of unitdesigns. They scrapped some, changed some and completely overhauled some (I've followed it since the announcement in May 2007) and some they messed around with for a long time before scrapping.

And they're still not done!   The Zerg Lurker isn't in the beta and they just recently changed abilities like the Nexus speed/research aura and removed the Obelisk/Dark Pylon. Then we got the Zerg Queen which they're messed around with a whole lot....just waiting for someone to find the current big imbalance that will dominate....will probably 24h or so ^^

I'm sure they will fix and add stuff in the two expansions. But that's simply what we have to put up with if we want a competetive game which have three completely diverse races.

The zoom is that way since it's an e-sport game where people have to have identical settings (I don't completely agree with that) and also since Blizzard think it's the best way. E-sport games have to be spectatorfriendly and Supreme Commander I think is "too big" while Sins is just macro and have no rewarding micromanagement.

And watching from a players perspective in SupCom is just lol since if he zooms out to max like one great player did then it's just a bunch of dots....who on earth would want to watch such a match..?   And how immersive is it to play like that??

I have seen a few live videos... Dont be slow and dont play too drunk ... yes drinking helps but once you pass that x amount of beers you crash and burn... hard...

Cant wait to dominate or be dominated. And remember kids... STAY AWAY FROM KOREANS! Cause it will be a short match!

Looks good to me. I believe this is a private beta right now and the open beta is near the end of February.

You have lots of reasons to delay stuff... FROGBOY!

This is so true. My Korean engineering professor is more excited about SCII than I am.

+1

I will probably end up getting it simply because there's a severe lack of quality competitive RTS' as of late (DoW2 sucked, Tales of Valor sadly killed CoH, C&C4 is going to suck, Sins is a GREAT single player/co-op game but sucks online, SupCom2 is a wildcard), but it I'm not expecting to be amazed by it.  Battle.net is by far the best online matchmaking system ever made, and it's the main reason SC1 and Warcraft 3 are still played more than many modern RTS'.  The ease of getting into a game, even with 3v3 arranged, simply cannot be beaten.  Select players, select maps, go.  Game usually starts in under 20 seconds.  Flawless netcode, drop system is the fairest system I've seen, easy to use replay system; it simply doesn't matter that the game will almost certainly be SC1.5 with multiplayer support like that.

A medoicre competitive game that is easy to pick up and play with friends will win over a great game that is aggravating to play online 10 times out of 10.  It also doesn't hurt that Blizzard keeps the system requirements as low as possible.  It frankly wouldn't surprise me if the game ends up being playable on onboard video...

Tell me about it.  I own every Blizzard RTS ever made, it's not like there's any doubt that I'm going to buy this

I think that the reason it took them so long to come out with sc2 was that Blizzard was slightly busy with a small game called World of Warcraft and about a billion expansions for it.

Blizzard says that thousands of gamers are getting keys. So assume that's 5000 (we have no idea what it really is)

Assume 1 million accounts signed up. That's a 1/200 chance of getting in. My numbers are probably way off but you get the point

I seem to break these forums a lot. Especially when I try to nest quotes inside of other quotes. Or maybe because I tried to divide by zero. On the beta opt-in page is it supposed to say Starcraft Universe? From what I've read it seems to be synonymous with Starcraft II. Has anyone discovered how many people are going to be let in the beta? I really want to play so I don't get stomped by all the beta testers.

What do you play as Frogboy? From what I've seen the Protoss buildings and units are beautiful. The sounds for the Zerg are gross; i love it.

Pssssst... I bet you can't get me a beta key Frogboy. Haha, prove me wrong if you dare! Hehe
