My Sins of a Solar Empire Review

Being a traditional 4x TBS fan at first I was skeptical about Sins, now I'm conviced that it is an excelent game.

Well, with a 9.2 I can't complain about the review I'm glad you like the game! Now keep playing it!

I was aware of so many good reviews, 8.9@IGN, 9.0@Gamespot but somehow I found resistence to the game because I like more TBS 4x games than RTS. To my complete surprise (well only partial due to so many good reviews and the fact I love homeworld games) I really enjoy this game, and I'm currently playing it. And by the way, Entrenchment and Diplomacy are great expansions.

I'm not biased by anybody, I really was surprised to discover such an amazing game. I criticise Gamespot's review that says "well the game takes so much time ..., you loose sleep etc etc as a negative point" .. don't understand that. If you like to play only couple of hours you play a small map, you want more play the medium or big maps.

Since when was losing sleep while playing a game a negative?  I always thought that was an indication of how addictive it was.

EDIT: This is in response to adamsolo saying Gamespot gave Sins a negative for making you lose sleep.

The Bad

  • Games can take a very long time to resolve   
  • You won't get a lot of sleep.
I agree with you, Loosing sleep is the best compliment you can give to a game. Gamespot considers it a bad thing .. bah

Well so what if it is a long game, I usually play single player, just save and go to sleep. mmm sleep

It should also be pointed out that contrary to what most people might intuitively believe, online multiplayer games don't normally last more than 2 hours, even on the Huge Random Single Star map.  How could that be?!?  Because when you play 5v5, each player is really only responsible for knocking out one opposing player--you only have 5 enemies and you have 5 guys on your team.  Also, the players on the losing team normally call it "gg" (good games) and quit once the outcome of the game has been decided (and has thus degenerated into a boring mop up job), so it's not even necessary to fight it out to the last planet or ship.
