Later today Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are planning to release the latest updates for Sins of a Solar Empire, Sins of a Solar Empire - Entrenchment and Sins of a Solar Empire - Diplomacy/Trinity.  This is a small update, but resolves a long-standing desync/crash issue that's been causing pain to players.

As always, check your Impulse client for the update.

NOTE: This update may invalidate your save games

All:

+ This update fixes the most common desync and crash bug in each of the Sins games. Resolving this issue was a long time coming due to how difficult it was to track down, so we want to give special thanks to the following players for all their help -

  • Warren Tabada
  • Jordan Rideout
  • Kyle Leppert
  • Landon DePasquale
  • Frank Galati
  • Ben Horsley
  • Quarantine
  • Tristan Halverson

Sins of a Solar Empire - Diplomacy/Trinity:

Interface -

+ Trinity clients will now properly be labled on the main menu.
+ Play Entrenchment and Play Sins buttons now function properly and exist in the main menu.

Misc. -

+ Fixed a bug where certain treaties would break if the relationship between two players were negative and they were humans.

yeah the menu update is good.

now can we all play meet in 1 lobby and add filters to join game screen so that we can see which game version is being hosted by someone.  so that we could switch to the right version to join .

but huge thanks for continuing to resolve the bug issue. And thanks to those guys he listed.

Ditto! Filters for Everyone and Friends only is pointless when the max games listed is 5 or so. Please let us have one lobby again and allow us to actually see what is being hosted in Sins/Entrenchment/Diplomacy. The filter idea is the best one as you can simply remove Everyone/Friends Only for Sins/Entrenchment/Diplomacy.

Can we get some details about the desync bug?   Where was it hiding?

Well, it's not crashing now after the new patch but the pirate actions are still going out of synch in multiplayer (lan).  On my screen planet x is being raided by pirates but on the other computer that planet is not seen as being raided.  Seems to happen after you start giving the pirates missions.

It is weird, i play only vs the AIs. After the Patch i loaded my last Savegame where i jumping to an enemy Planet. They fly to the Enemys and the Planet but no one is attacking, sometimes for some seconds but after that nothing again for a longer time.

By another Planet where two AIs fighting each other are no Problems, in a new Game i dont see this Problem too atm.

Edit: Ah and the same AI was an ally and in the same System too with some Ships and there was exactly the same Problem.

Thanks a lot! So this means I don't go back to desktop anymore when the ram limit of 2gb for this game is reached?

Quoting GJDriessen,

No, that a problem with any 32 bit game. There's nothing they could do about that besides a full change to 64 bit code, which won't happen.

Optimizing the Game will help ... And you can have 3,5GB under 32Bit.

No, you can't.  Programs are limited to 2Gb.  OS can have 3.5Gb.

i have a thread about that somewhere, that details how to modify the OS to allow 3GB for games in 32 bit OS's. Solves the crash bug just fine.

http://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/375539

It'd be nice if they officially patched the game to be large address aware, and then just told 32 bit users to either run lower settings, or modify the OS.

Nice to know you got it

But when are the patches going to stop rendering the mod tools useless?

No, you can't. Programs are limited to 2Gb. OS can have 3.5Gb.

Really depends on your hardware (motherboard card) / OS one of intells 32 bit couldn't have more then 3 Gb ram.
