I have a store bought copy of Sins. Played it extensively last year. Noticed at that time when I was involved in large battles system slowed down. I chalked that up to an older video card. I replaced my ATI 9600 with an ATI HD 3850. If I thought the game looked great on the 9600, it was utterly fantatic with the 3850! I played like this for a while, but life interupted and I put this and most of my gaming on the back burner.
Reciently I had my hard drive crash. I replaced my hard drive with a larger faster one. But now as I'm reinstalling all my favorite programs, such as Sins. I've run into a problem. I knew from when I installed Sins last year there was a patch, so after installing it this time around I went immediatly patched it before jumping in and playing. Original version was 1.0, I just installed 1.19 from impulse tonight. When I went to load the game and begin a single player game, I couldn't read any of the menus at all. There was no way I could adjust the video setting via the game because I couldn't read the sliders or anything.
Worst of all, I did manage to get into one screen showing some ships in space via one of the tutorials. Compared to what I use to see, this was HORRIBLE!!!
I know my system is old. If I could find work I'd start saving for a new computer. But I just don't understand how it was looking so great, to looking like crap!
