As a small part of the community know from a previous post (that went a little off topic and got really confusing), I CANNOT GET GALAXY FORGE TO OPEN!!!
Argh it's SO frustrating
!! Alright here is exactly what my situation is:
- I have Windows Vista
- I have net 3.5
- I have downloaded 7-zip from 7-zip.org. It is the .msi version 9.12, and I know that Vista is a 64bit operating system and I have successfully downloaded x64 versions of other software.
- I then saved the GalaxyForge3 folder off this site (sinsofasloarempire.com). I've tried saving in different folder locations in my C drive but nothing makes a difference (unless it's supposed to be placed in a very specific folder or something that I don't know about).
- I then open 7-zip and navigate to the save locaiton, double click on GalaxyForge3.rar, then open the folder "GalaxyForge 3" (the only folder on-screen), and from there double click on "GalaxyForge.exe". Windows immediately gives me the standard "Galaxy Forge has stopped working. Windoes is currently searching for a solution to the problem" window that we all hate to see, although in this case the program never began working. Windows doesn't find a problem but will let me know when one becomes available blah blah blah.
- I can open all other files in this location (except of course the file with the .galaxyScenarioDef extension). When I open the .png files Winows Photo Gallery pops up with a blank screen... not sure if there is supposed to be something there.
- The wierdest thing is that Galaxy Forge does not show up in the Windows list of programs in the Control Panel, so Windows obviously does not consider it a program, which I suspect is why the program will not open. 7-zip and both Entrenchment and Vanilla sins are included in the list of programs.
- Although I don't think this makes a difference, here's another detail: I first attempted to download 7-zip from the site 7zipdownload.com, which sent me a bunch of Adware.Hotbar junk. Luckily my Norton Antivirus caught it and (hopefully) got rid of it all. I uninstalled 7-zip via the Control Panel and downloaded again off the site listed above without a problem.
- I would be tempted to say that it's just my laptop, but I tried the exact same thing on my dad's desktop and that did not work either. I met the same basic problems except he has Windows xp.
I'm pretty sure I included all the important details, plus a bunch that was probably not needed or obvious. I really hope someone can help me out here. Thanks a ton!!!!
