I have some questions about the source code and gameplay related.

1. Is it possible that when you mod the game good that you can make planets move around stars?

2. Is is possible to add lens flares & those shadows like crysis? ( when you look into the sun you see shadows at your weapon).

3. Can't the release the source code?

4. possible to add moving moons around planets?

5. Add rotating guns? ( AKA: Aiming at enemy's ) ( i have seen the Babylon mod with that animated thing in the middle so it should maybe work for weapons )

Releasing the source code would be cool because: it is an good modible game and there are great programs at the site to help but releasing the source code would bring all new features like: DX10 / new mechanics / Lens flares, something like that

Depends on what you mean by rotating guns. If it is just a mesh which just rotates around a specific point then yes (the weapon point can't be changed however), but if you mean like aiming on enemies then no.

we occasionally must remember that this game is old.  it was built for what... 2003 spec computers, where multithreading was non-existant, and computers were quite simply not as powerful.  (and hell, the game still gets laggy when you got 10 players with maxxed fleets)

While I am sure rotating turrents will be in sins 2. (I will be rather unhappy if they are not)... the game engine does not support anything besides stationary meshes.

And, on rotating planets... at one point in the beta(alpha?)... the planets DID rotate... but... it was removed for the rediculous ammounts of chaos it played on the phase lanes, and the players minds...

there are lens flares in game. they are just not rediculously noticeable.

shadows would be a bad idea... you see... space is really really dark... and if it wasnt for the ambiant light in sins... you could see preety much nothing depending on your point of view... (me, personally, always start the game by rotating the map so that the star is at the top of the screen... aka... I am looking at the dark side of everything constantly)

Orbiting moons are VERY possible. I've seen them in 7DS and HammerSun's mod a while ago.

Technically, orbiting planets could be done via a similar method. You'd just need to create a Star acting as a planet and then code in planets as rotating "moons". Then you could fight over solar systems instead of planets.

Just to make it clear is it rotating planets as an effect or an actual entity which can be captured individually. The reason I ask is that I tink he more think of it as a gameplay mechanic rather then something visual.

Unfortnately, they are purely visual. You would not be able to capture the smaller orbiting bodies themselves, only the entity that they are orbiting around.
