I had the privileged of taking a few classes at one of the countries top and premier schools in Philosophy some time ago.  I was getting my Masters in several other fields (as well as in Philosophy) and actually at another University.  I like to learn and academia!  The purpose of Philosophy was I thought:  the rational investigation of questions about existence, knowledge, and ethics.

Maybe I'm wrong.......

During one of the class discussions (the class is small so essentially we had some pretty good discussions) topic of G-D and religion came up and started another topic.  The professor and most of the class were speaking negatively so I spoke up with this statement:

There are three possibilities to this conundrum.

There is a god, god would exist in all possible dimensions.

There is a god, yet god exist in some but not all dimensions.

There is no god, god does not exist in all possible dimensions.

The second option, there is something keeping god from being in some dimensions.  According to the definition of god, god is all powerful therefore something is restraining god.  This contradicts the definition of god and can be thrown out.  With the third option, no matter how small or minute there is a possibility that there is a god.  That last one could be thrown out.  We are left with one possibility: There is a god, god would exist in all possible dimensions.

I was mocked, made fun of, and laughed at.  I then stated: the basic question that philosophy is trying to answer is that something is there than that nothing is there.  Nothing can sidestep the question of the fact that things do exist and they exist in their present form and complexity.  This all pertaining to the existence of man is not a greater problem than that anything exists at all. 

Which got some laugh and snides.

Maybe I'm in the wrong field and should become a shock dj or a comedian or talk radio host (I was a dj in undergrad/grad).  I guess there's not rational investigation left.  Case closed!
