I wanted to touch base on this subject because it affects me and my friends when they come over and play lan sessions. I’m at the point where Sins is going to get put up on the self until either this is fixed or Sins 2 comes out with a much better thought out engine in mind for the x64 bit OS. We usually take on 3 AI on the hardest settings for Entrenchment, just this last Friday two human players. We got about 3 hours into our game and the really bad pauses and stuttering started up. This was not the 2 gig limits, I was at 1.5 gigs and my friends were at 1.2 gigs. This was not a ram issue or the game hitting the max ram limit. This is the engine itself that the problem.
There has to be a bad memory leak within the game that the devs have not yet found or figured out. We have played over 30 games and each time it’s the same story about 3 hours in the bad pauses start.
We have quit the game and loaded up the save game, and about 10 to 15 mins in the pauses start again. I’m having a feeling that the save game engine is somehow contributing to this problem, there seems to be some correlation at times when the game auto saves the game will slow down or pauses during saves. Maybe I’m wrong but I still think there is issues in the engine that are memory leaks.
I love the game but the constant pausing is just killing this game for us and its gotten to the point where some of the guys just don’t want to play it anymore because we can’t ever finish a game. I hope IC is reading alt hese post because they really need to isolate this bug and kill it.
