The REAL Chatroom

Or alternative Chatroom

Ok, so I decided to create a new Chatroom, because the old one was getting pretty....old!

Everyone may post here, as well as in the good'ol Flameroom...I mean, Chatroom

I would like to keep this Chatroom civilized. Well, as civilized as most forum threads are (doesnt mean that you all have to be polite like Oatesy, lol).

So for this reason, I may update the OP of this thread in the future, posting certain thread rules, as I see fit.

For now though, post away, and everyone is welcome!

Well, I'm in a Space Camp-thing, and today we went into Cheyenne Mountain. That was definitely an experience. We had to go through three security checkpoints, which took a considerable amount of time, and we kept running into delays. But the tour of the mountain was awesome!!

That place has generators that can power the entire structure for at least thirty days. And the blast doors look virtually impregnable. There huge and have locking mechanisms bigger than my head. We also go to see and stand in the room that NORAD would use if they ever came back. They had a TV that was showing all the plane flights in the U.S., and we have  alot of planes at any given time.

And for the Space Camp itself, I've been assigned to the Radiation Team

So far, this Summer, visiting that mountain has been my best experience.

You do realize that the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center was intended to withstand nearby [within ~3 kilometers] multi-megaton nuclear weapon strikes, right? Especially since the CMOC was intended as the base for NORAD, which would monitor for and coordinate the reactions against nuclear weapon launches.

Because that's why the facility is so heavily fortified like that.

Side note: in all the Stargate series, the SG-1 team is based out of the CMOC.

Give me some credit Whiskey, I did know that it is supposed  to be able to survive a nuclear strike, but actually seeing the features up close just made it seem so much more... impressive? I guess. I'm not sure why, but NORAD moved to one of teh Air Force Bases nearby. Probably due to the massive operating costs, and the  probable lack of nuclear missiles incoming any time soon.

According to the tour guide, the Air Force is trying to obtain one of the Stargates from the show, because the show was based there.

Well, I got up and went outside this morning... and I couldn't see the mountains. I live in Colorado Springs and in the ~north western~ part of town, there is supposed to be a large fire, and the sheer amount of smoke managed to blot out the mountains, which kinda incredible. Apparently they evacuated an entire town near the fire.

Hope it does head into the Eastern part of town, or

Wow, my thread has gotten some ads and those stupid facebook/twitter/other crap buttons.

BLASPHEMY!

On another note, sorry to hear that Mr Nilles, I hope at least everyone in the area is safe.

Anyways, seeing as this thing's pretty much dead here, thought I'd give you my 2 cents.

Seriously? I was just in Colorado Springs yesterday! Obviously the fire was a while back, but hey, I was there recently.

So anyway, I'm sort of back, how's things?

OHMAHGERDMERPHIZ- *BLAM* /smoking gun

Ahem. My idiotic colleague will trouble us (mostly me, but whatever) no longer. To correctly phrase his, ah, response:

Morph is back. Again. I don't know why Facebook is corruption*, but threadnomancy is awesome.

*But then again, I use Facebook mostly as a way to keep track of friends. Also Facebook-stalking.
