Titan Class Super Capital Ships

As like everyone else, I'm very excited over the announcement of the new expansion Rebellion...So far, only one ship has been shown from the original three factions which I think will become a legendary class of ships in the Sins universe.

This ship is bristling with guns on four wing pylons, probably a mix of long and short weapons, kinetic and beam weapons most likely. Have more strike craft than a carrier capital, and missile weapons loads. And now the business end of the ship...

I believe this ship is a mobile Novalith cannon, shrunk down to size on a mobile platform, because of her size, she is slow but faster that a Vasari starbase. And more than likely, she can target capital size ships and starbases with her main weapon. And if that is the case, once it takes out the capital ships, mop up the cruisers and frigates and blast a planet with four to five shots and bring in the colony ships for settlement.

Armor and shields would be just below that of a starbase but of course, this is all speculation. Like to get everyones thought of the TEC's newest class of ship since the envoy ship. I bet the Vasari's came out first and the Traders brought out theirs next followed by the Advent....

I can't wait to see the Vasari's Titan Class Super Capital.....

Looks AWESOME!! Really looking forward to this . When I first saw the artical I could not believe it.

Indeed. Looks like 6 per arm, so 24 maybee, of 1 weapon type. Coooool!

I believe this ship is a mobile Novalith cannon

I think the Devs are more likely to surprise us with something new. But if I was going to bet on it, I'm thinking a massive "Rail Gun"

I can't wait to see the Vasari's Titan Class Super Capital.....

Me eithier.

by the look of it may only have 3 arms, with its top slightly off center (fits the TEC's style) but that may just be the angle.

i for one am waiting for the Advent titan, i somehow think it'll be like the massive carrier in Gundam seed destiny, massive fighter compliment with 6 forward beams and 2 on either side

If Titans end up being very overpowered to the point where they really muck up the game (like the pirates in Diplomacy), will there be an option to play with Titans off?  If not I guess someone would have to release a mod that could become the standard setting for online multiplayer.

I'd strongly request the "Titans off" option.  Not that I am opposed to them but I just worry that they will be the "game over now" tech.

On the other hand, I haven't actually seen them yet...if they are indeed 'mobile novaliths and the like on a cap ship platform--then very cool.

Meh..I am looking forward to them either way!

Thats where beta will coem in. Now hopefulyl people will play the beta so we can get the freaking MP balance information we will need. Unlike now we have a diplomacy beta but no one plays it you all stay on reguler and don'T contribute to actuly gettign good game info to balance it out more.

why would titans be overpowered?

I feel they will be kinda like starbases, in the fact that, if you build one... your going to be totally screwed against someone who knows what they are doing, since they will cost soooo much.  Hell, by the time you save up enough for one, you will prolly find your hw being bombed.

At the very least, they are going to be very slow.

Then again, I would hate for a Titan to be killable by a few kiting carriers... you know the drill.

I would not be suprised if titans could not attack corvette class ships, in the same way regular ships cannot attack strike craft.

I'd be more worried about corvettes messing up the game. I mean, think of how much more balancing needs to be done to add a new class of ships. 1 new ship is easy (new capital). Its even easier if it is it's own new class as it doesnt mess with whats already there (titan). you just make it vulnerable enough to something the game already has and you're golden.

but a whole class means you have to make the ships within the class similar in ability while making the class itself fit in with the other classes, and then you have to make each ship in the class have different counters (1 counter to all the ships would be pitiful), and then check that new combinations of ships dont have unexpected consequences (like original holy trinity). and then make sure the ships are good enough and unique enough that they are used, while not making the old ships obsolete.

I would get the beta patch, but I am not ready for Diplomacy multiplayer. I can barely tangle with Hard AI on vanilla and Entrenchment at the moment.

I pretty much agree on everything that you have said, but I am gonna assume that they have been working on this for a lot longer the we may realize. The pic above is more than likely the finish product and they are now halfway through their testing before beta release.

We may get a beta release in Sept/Oct...

All this from a couple short sentences. If you read the Sins manual you would think Capital Ships are unstoppable beasts.

When I first saw this I thought it was fake, looked a bit too Homeworld-y for Sins, then I realised I had seen this art style somewhere in relation to Sins before and lo and behold it was him (though he hasn't sorted it into that gallery).

That image is here in nice wallpapery resolution.

SO... this image is concept art it seems?

That certainly makes me feel better about it, I also thought it looked homeworld-y and dated.

Totally, and it seems to be a running theme that IC alter the colour schemes and tweak the configuration of this chap's designs to fit in more with the art style of the game.

Why are some people so worried about these being OP? These ships are meant to be OP and bring about the end game. Frankely if they are not the over powered end all dispute ships that they look like to be then I will be disappointed.

I personally think cap ships and star bases are too weak as it is....

Which is fine. Especially given the fact that the rebellion description states that the resources are running out and what not and everyone is at the end of their ropes.

I do think a regicide mode where everyone starts with a titan, and if you lose it you lose might be fun.

Wow, so this is a concept pic.....

The artist IngnusDei has been doing artwork for Sins for while. Some of his artwork appears in load screens in Sins. With the exception of the Advent starbase, must of his stuff makes it in game with minor touches. Thank Mighty Moongoose for leading us to his site.

Check out his gallery, good stuff in it....
