Hey gang,

We've tried something new on the server-side with ICO.  So far it appears to be helping, but it's hard to tell. If you can please hop on and let us know how it feels. Please post back with the number of players who were online and in your game at the time you tested.

Thanks!

Most excellent.  Once I get a game going, I'll let you know.  Thank you.

played a 5v5. i did not notice any server side lag.    number of players when we were hosting the game, and had 9 players in the game was 9, so only one game, and only us in it for the start... but the lack of lag seemed to hold out thoughout.

didnt catch the number online when the game ended.

I can't tell you how many are on, but so far it's been flawless.  Played a 5v5 and everything was smooth.  What did you change?

Yarlen, do you think there's anything to my (layman's) hypothesis that the lag was time-dependent relative to the time of the server reboot or the closing/reloading of the Sins program on the server?  It seemed like the lag was a degenerative, time-dependent problem because it was pretty lag free for the first two days after the patch was released.

I think the lag had more to do with the players or at least the fix to the lag they put into place deals with the latency of the players internet cause I noticed today any time I lagged I was automatically disconnected from ICO right away.

Actually if this holds up, the issue was that the ICO database had gotten too big and unwieldy. We went in and did some optimization on it.

Quoting Yarlen,
..., the issue was that the ICO database had gotten too big and unwieldy...

Probably from all the smurfing!

Some people are constantly creating new smurfs, and now I see them somehow recreating the same name so that the record is always new, and meaningless.  Not to mention the dirty little secret: that you can play 1v1 against an AI on ICO, and start with both players on the same team to get instant wins.

So... win/loss/games played records are completely worthless and meaningless.  People are abusing the system.

New accounts and records need to be implemented in Rebellion.  And the two bugs I mention above, need to be filled.

Rebellion will be using the Reactor account system, so there won't be crazy smurfing (in theory). All player records will be tied to your validated account.

We know ICO is not big in player count. What would be funny to know how many unique names there is.

Well, time will tell what we can accomplish, but I'd like to take the stat info from ICO games and put them on the Sins' website (kinda like we do for Demigod).

Based on the 2 above facials (from kitkun and yarlen) there appears to be a karma competition.

Curious, is the database going to be trimmed down in any way (Redundant account names, etc.) when Reactor gets integrated?

The mind-boggling bit is how you have more than anybody.

The lobby and game are both extremely laggy right now, unfortunately.  My friend is experiencing the same issues.

Since the latest patch I haven't noticed any significant ICO based lag will post again if that changes.
