To explode? That's difficult.

Colonizing them would be possible...but maaaan you'd need some damn good sun block and a thick pair of shades to live there

Can you live and rejoice while in lake of fire? It's taken more than good sun block and thick pair of shades to live there, I think you couldn't live ther on based of your flesh and blood.

I'd like to see colonizeable stars. I'd do it myself, but I'm not good with planets. My specialty is modifying entity files.

That's all you need to do to make stars colonizable.

Yeah, I know that. I meant entity files like ships, structures, starbases, and Gameplay and... a few others... I could give it another go... or at least make them something worthwhile...

Basically, I can't edit planets for the life of me, except for increasing the slots.

Anyone ever noticed that you can have two SBs at any star? Am I the only one who finds that a little weird?

You mean four?

Bigger gravwell concept I am assuming.

Well, do the next best thing, if you can't live on the surface of a star. Create a new tech line and live in star's grav well.

You can already build four starbases in a star's grav well, with the new tech line you can build other structures that are hardened to resit the harsh gravity and temperatures being so close to a star.

Imagine defense structures guarding phase lanes to the interior of a system, or some shield generators to protect other objects from a star's fury.

Like Ryat said, 4, but even that can be changed in the entity file, same with the planets.  As an added bonus, it can be done on an individual basis.  So you can give say a terran planet the ability to host 2 starbases, Gas giants 4 like the stars because of the huge gravity wells, deserts 3 because you just felt like it, and leave the rest at 1 because of the excuse that asteroids, ice, and volcanic planets don't have populations needing that much protection and the anomalies you can set to 0 just to make them all that much more of a pain in the ass to deal with.  =]
